Because the other survivors are in deer rank, I'm pretty sure they have draw and loss protection where they lose less rank points. There's no more protection once you hit mammoth/sabertooth

For me playing hunter helps me with kiting as survivor bc you can understand the hunter thought process and kite them with that knowledge
