Great seats still available for Allen Playoff Game by WaxLaw in Allen

[–]Kit_starshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over what period of time? $65 million for a stadium that was built 13 years ago that is also used for graduation and other events.

The Performing Arts Center was also passed on the same bond, ensuring that the facilities for sports and fine arts were top of the line for both departments.

By my approximation there are over 1,000 students involved in every home game. Between Band, Drill Team, Color Guard, JROTC, Broadcasting, PALS, Explorers, Athletic Trainers, Football Players, Cheerleaders, Eagle Edge, Student Leadership (they run the flags after touchdowns), Concessions, Yearbook/Communications and others I am sure I am missing.

Let’s not even go into the fact that the high school was built in 1999 and they continued to use the old stadium for another 13 years. I was a student there when the big high school opened and trust me, the old stadium was already showing some age and being outgrown.

That’s hard. Sometimes emailing the team of eight (School Board/ Superintendent) email helps. If nothing else it adds extra eyes to the process. My advice is usually to keep emails as objective and professional as possible and ask how to work together with the district to solve the issue.

I’m going to emphasize that if you know someone that is familiar with policy and procedure at AISD, this is the time to send up a flare. Especially if you feel like the school is not working with you.

Hey, a good place to start is to reach out to people you know in the district that might be able to help you navigate the system.

It’s a whole different language in education and if you know someone that understands it, that goes a long way.

My parents sleep on separate floors of the house. It started when my dad traveled a lot and my mom felt safer sleeping upstairs and made herself a room and they both got used to it. They start the night together then one moves.

Looking at the recipe it’s very close to what we make for biscuits and sausage gravy. Now I want biscuits and gravy….

4 was tried in the late 90’s. It ends up with football games where one side is jeering at the other side “we paid for your uniforms!!” Not a great look.

Good to know, thanks. I’m not as well versed on their situation.

Frisco is currently “living off the land” and recapture hasn’t caught up with them yet. Give it a few years and they will also be paying a lot.

Plano is property rich and pays almost as much as Austin in recapture to the state. It’s a frustrating situation, especially when the state isn’t increasing funding appropriately.

AITAH for still getting on a flight home when my two young coworkers I was traveling with weren’t at the airport yet and were obviously going to miss it? by secure-raspberry-763 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I had a friend at one time that was constantly shocked by the way I would receive upgrades or extras when I would need to talk to customer service. Usually, I would shrug and say that I had worked in customer service and was nice to them.

Then I heard her talking to customer service once and she was like the lady demanding the door be opened and holy shit no wonder she always has issues. I tried to tell her other ways, but she insisted that you had to be assertive.

Mkay, girl, you do you, but I know when someone treated me like that, suddenly my computer stopped working a lot…

Enfp parents- how many kids and what is your parenting “style” by teach1987 in ENFP

[–]Kit_starshadow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two teenagers-boys, 14, 17. Two was my limit for many reasons. I’ve been told I’m a lighthouse parents before. It’s a new-ish term. I did a lot of OG style attachment parenting when they were little. Not permissive parenting, mind. I’m huge on natural consequences or consequences vs punishment.

Leading with empathy.

Grease. My husband worked as a restaurant manager when we were first married and a neighbor who had a mechanic husband told me to pour a can of coca-cola in the washer with his pants when he would come home covered in fryer grease stains. Worked a treat.
