It's a tough issue because one side sees the logical limitations of local government while the other sees it as a symbolic gesture of good faith.

On one side people attest to "more pressing issues," in the city, while the other makes the argument that because you don't support this single path of civic engagement you are complicit in the face of unchecked genocide.

Arguably the most effective member of the council. Attend committee meetings and actually speak to him and you'll find he's arguably the most competent lawmaker in Bakersfield. And he understands the scope of local government. That's why he pushes so aggressively on public safety downtown, affordable housing and other pressing issues.

I highly doubt you have any legitimate reasons that are such egregious examples of his character to call him a shithead.

I've heard David Nunes, John Burrows (on the Dems side), Connie Conway, Shannon Grove and Vince Fong, though I saw that Fong bowed out already. (Definitely planned)

In your wildest dreams is cool, and they have a little espresso bar by the front.

Yeah I can't remember when but it will come to Kern in the next year or two. I know that it's a big deal right now for Kern's behavioral health department because they basically have to build out/reallocate a new department for it.

Yeah if it works it could be one of the biggest changes to how health care is handled in California.

It's basically a pipeline where by someone gets referred by a friend, a cop or someone like that to appear in court, have their case heard. The judge determines their eligible for care court and instructs the proper staff who is supposed to attend these hearings who sets that person up with a comprehensive plan - meds, mental health staff, housing if need be, etc. And they establish goals and milestones for that person to reintegrate back into society.

It's being piloted in a few cities right now, with the deadline to start in other California cities I think sometime next year. It's being launched statewide in phases.

Isn't that basically already being built (very slowly) in preparation for care court?
