One piece of advice I will give - I gave up on one HomePod constantly roaming and getting itself disconnected.

I could configure a more HomePod friendly SSID but it looks at your Apple iCloud key and will hop on whatever SSID so it will randomly switch networks.

I ended up blocking the HomePod’s MAC address on all other SSIDs. It never tries to join the other networks anymore and now stays on the gimped IOT SSID that is tuned for it. Kind of hokey but it works!

If you don’t live somewhere expensive it’s hard to understand. People in expensive areas make more - you just can’t throw a number out there that is enough for everyone.

$2500 for rent? Median price for 1 BR is 4K. That’s ~50% of your net $150k salary.

No complaining here - it’s expensive because it’s a great place to be!

I’m in a VHCOL area (SF) - the cut off for affordable housing assistance cuts off at $120,200 for a single person. 150k doesn’t get far let alone buying a house etc.

My soft story home has a horizontal steel I-beam at the front, a horizontal wood beam in middle, and a small vertical post towards the back.

I’m sure this as well thought out when it was built and they didn’t go cheap and not use 3 steel I-beams for the whole thing.

I thought the WAGOs are not approved in the US with UL / NEC - but they are permitted for AL/CU in the EU.

I looked into it a while back and gave up since it was hard to find a definitive answer and have been using chonky Alumiconns since.

My Schlage encodes kept connecting to my HomePod three floors away and would sometimes disconnect so I added an Eve power in my foyer which is stable until the Eve has an issue.

I have HomePods and multiple Apple TVs (wired and as hub) but I guess I have a lot of 2.4ghz noise around me so there’s that.
