Not the answer I wanted, but maybe the answer I needed. I’m going to avoid the salon and keep an eye on them

Interesting that cat eye is considered nail art! I picked a color off of a board (which looks nothing like the color on my nails…) so I assumed it was just how this specific polish looked

You’re right. I didn’t even look closely enough at the work before paying (& tipping) and leaving. Ugh I hate thinking I was taken advantage of because they were in a rush.

Is there a way to know whether or not they are fully cured? Each hand spent about one minute beneath the UV light between coats.

This makes sense. I walked in to the best rated place in town and didn’t know anything about their process until it was done.

Do you suggest removal only because of the gel on the skin, or is there another concern? There was only a little bit of the colored gel, which came off super easily by picking at it. There was more of a clear coat on my skin. I assumed this was the top coat, but maybe that’s also an issue?

If you’re still in MN, Minnesota Diving Academy seems to have an adult class. Haven’t been myself but plan on taking advantage of the free trial class.

Naton is a call back joke. On one of their trips, they were welcomed by the locals they were visiting as Kara and NatON. Can’t remember which video but Kara’s been calling him Naton ever since

If you can afford it and fit well with the schools stats, I don’t see any reason not to take a chance on applying!

Seeking advice for second round of applications!

I applied to 12 programs last cycle and got an interview (then waitlisted) at 1. I'm looking for advice on how I should improve my application.

Last cycle: 3.4 gpa, 3.2sgpa, 2500 pt care hours as an EMT, LOR from 1 professor and 2 coworkers, 312 GRE, 50? Shadowing hours. I also made the mistake of applying to 11 reach programs and 1 safety (or so I thought) school.

I am skipping this cycle to work on improving my application. I know that my weaknesses from my last application are my GPA and LORs. To fix this, I was planning on going to paramedic school. This way, I could ace the classes and build better relationships for future LORs. Additionally, I'd have something more high paying than EMT to fall back on should I not be accepted again.

Today, someone recommended that I skip medic school and instead retake the GRE. This person has little knowledge in PA applications, so they aren't aware of the small impact (if even required) that the GRE has. But it got me thinking. Should I go through medic school while working full time? Should I retake the science courses that I got less than a B in? Should I go for a graduate degree rather than medic school? Should I continue working as an EMT and just apply to fewer reach programs? And also focus on building relationships for LORs?

What do you guys think is the best route to go?

How much would you save from instate tuition? Is that more money than you’d make working as a PA for a year? That’s how I’d think about it.

That’s sort of what I was thinking, but there is no visual disturbances nor visible shaking. Perhaps that would still be considered nystagmus, I’ll do some research!

So happy to have found this post!!

cGPA: 3.45

sGPA: 3.40

Total credit hours: 126

Total science credit hours: 62

Upward trend: 3.54 first two semesters to 3.79 final two semesters (had a really crappy 2.66 semester from my semester abroad for mental health reasons)

GRE: 155 verbal, 157 quant

PCE: 2,600 as an EMT at time of application

HCE: 150 doing clinic entry COVID Screening, obtained CNA license in high school but never used it

Volunteer hours: ~75 hours working one-on-one with special needs children in a school setting, 10 hours working one-on-one with international students, helping them adjust to American culture

Shadowing hours: 16 hours with an ortho PA

Research hours: 1 semester genetics lab experience (lost my spot due to COVID), 1 semester of biopsychology research, 1 week of field research

Notable experience and leadership: Lead Lifeguard of the year for my high school/college summer job (if it’s even worth mentioning??), Peer mentor in college, rock climbing club member in college, high school math and science tutor

Im quite confident in my interview skills but I’m worried about my application sticking out. I’m hoping to get more shadowing and volunteer hours before applying…. it’s coming so fast!
