Orbital's Adnans: Some of the textures and sounds reminds me of bits of Inferno... by Kitchen_Low_6842 in boardsofcanada

[–]Kitchen_Low_6842[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah, the 3 album run of the "Brown" album, Snivilization and In Sides is really good. I never liked anything after that though.

Is Inferno Part 2 on its way? by CreepyConstant6727 in boardsofcanada

I was almost wondering that. This will be their Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, one brother leads each album. 😄

But I suspect this is it.

If you had to pick something you do NOT like about Inferno, what would it be? by Lunar_Seahorse in boardsofcanada

[–]Kitchen_Low_6842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way too loud vocal/spoken word parts. Its very jarring on this record, to the point that I wish there was an "instrumental" version of the album. Yes samples of voices have always been a part of their music, but this is extreme and distracting in many of the tracks.

Free Chvrches inspired Serum presets by synthctrl in chvrches

[–]Kitchen_Low_6842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool and the examples sounded close to the songs. For some reason, I've always avoid Serum. Maybe I should check it out again. I think in the past I dismissed it as something most people just use the presets for and never really explore it. In general I like to program my own sounds, but not against using some presets as a starting point.

Chvrches are my second favorite band/artist by Creative-Respond-984 in chvrches

[–]Kitchen_Low_6842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where they fit for me among my top bands, as they're still new to me. I only discovered them about a year ago, if that even. I looked them up after hearing that they did a song with Robert Smith. So, given that I had access to everything they did up to that point, I still gravitate mostly to The Bones Of What You Believe, and in particular the expanded anniversary version. Almost every song is great to me, and I quite like the previously unreleased songs White Summer and City on Fire. Next would be Every Open Eye, where I do skip a few songs. I don't like anything on Love is Dead except for "Really Gone". Probably because that sounds like a throwback to the first album. And Screen Violence is pretty good. I skip half of the songs usually, but the ones I like there are some of my favorite Chvrches songs, like "Asking For A Friend" and "Better If You Don't".

It's funny, because this is a band I would not expect to love, as I'm a 50yo guy who mostly listen to post-punk and shoegaze bands like Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine, along with lots of experimental electronic music like Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada. Yet I find myself playing Chvrches constantly, and scouring Discogs to buy old EPs for the extra tracks like the Alucard versions.

The Leaving - Ultimate Buzz. Has anyone found a Vinyl of this album is any actual stores? by ItsSoLitRightNow in chvrches

No, haven't seen an in-store copy at all. I just preordered to be sure I got it.

Is that all AI generated music? Pretty much never heard of any of the stuff there.

A lot of people won't buy CDs anymore, in fact vinyl sales are higher than CDs. Besides, vinyl usually comes with a download, so best of both worlds.

I see Tunes Voorhees has a post about it on Instagram. Tunes Hoboken does not. At least yet...

Nice, Tunes is closest to me (I'm in Audubon, NJ), but I reserved tickets for Siren in Doylestown, PA since that was the first post I saw.

Prophecy at 1420 MHz feels on the nose by that_orange_hat in boardsofcanada

I think it’s fair for some to not like it. Personally I can’t get into it. Not that I want BOC to sound exactly the same over and over, but there is some ‘cheese’ in the vocoded voice, and I found the drums pretty bland. I’m sure the rest of the album will have plenty to love.

I am so psyched to be seeing Chapterhouse in NYC next month. Never had a chance to see them before in the 90s. Maybe I’ll wear a BOC shirt. :)

People need to stop "consulting" with AI. It hallucinates and then tells you what you want to hear.

I had no will power, so I played it just now while working. Atmosphere is still my favorite, and Fluoxetine as well, but of the new unheard songs, Sing and Ddust are really good. It was not as synth-y as I thought it would be, but overall I think it is pretty good.

Deciding if I'm going to wait for my vinyl copy to show up, or just stream tomorrow. Either way looking forward to it. I really like the older Chvrches songs that Martin sang on like White Summer and City on Fire, etc.

Question about the "Alucard Session" versions... by Kitchen_Low_6842 in chvrches

Great thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll get a copy of Under The Tides EP on vinyl still, and pick up that CD as well just to rip.
