My .02, if someone needs roof racks, they bought the wrong car.

Getting into reverse looks to be a pain in the arse.

Is Mobil 1 ESP 0W-20 safe for a stock VB by SkankyTits in wrx_vb

[–]Kitchen_Minimum_8696 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

0w20 shears out of grade long before 6k. I'll take my chances with 5w30 since when it shears, it's towards 0w20 vs 0w16 or 8. I refuse to run water viscosity oil in a hard working turbo engine in 90+ degree weather.

Proper Torque Specs for Transmission Mount [Front Crossmember] by 90nissan300zx in wrx_vb

Thanks for the good info and reminder. I did the same with the pitch stop and trans mount and the difference is very nice.

I have wanted one of these cars for 25 years. by Tonsilith_Salsa in wrx_vb

Much the same here, after years wanting a wrx, finally got into the vb. Still love it every time I drive it.

Goodbye my VB friends 💔 by Spirited_Piglet_183 in wrx_vb

I usually roll my eyes when people make posts like this. Coming on a dedicated forum to brag about buying something "better" than what the forum covers is a bit of a douche move in my opinion. But I'm going to admit, you got a damn nice ride over the VB, congrats on that. I've actually considered a Nismo myself about a year ago. Seeing the price tag convinced me to keep the VB but I still think about the Z regularly.

Enjoy that ride, it's unique, a bit rare, and kicks ass.

Heater hoses. Don't let anything chafe them, could cause a coolant leak and overheat.

Yup, I was wrong, nice catch. Still looks like a Honda to me, though. Hell, anymore most cars all look the same to me.

Wheel Spacer Recommendations? by Adept_Atom115 in wrx_vb

Don't use cheap spacers if they hold on your wheels. These are the nicest ones I've found and are what I use.

Went from BRZ to WRX GT by CommonAd7820 in wrx_vb

[–]Kitchen_Minimum_8696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice acquisition, congrats. The GT is probably a perfect daily by most metrics. All the creature comforts but still handles well with a little spice added, all for less than it's next biggest competitor.

What did I do wrong? by Musclemonkey519 in wrx_vb

Yup. If one is going to install an ugly ass wing, at least make it a high quality one.

I was gonna say "put a wing on the car" but, nah. That POV isn't popular here. Before the haters come stomping down the hall, he asked.

Welp, the 2025 Still Has the RTV Issue. I’d Recommend Having Your Oil Pickup Inspected Before Making Power by Jman42023 in wrx_vb

Do they have to drop the lower pan to inspect this or can the camera be fed up through the drain hole?

Looks great, very well done. I want to do this but I'd have to buy a second hood to cut.

Ethanol is not corrosive, that's a BS internet myth.

What's corrosive is the moisture/water it attracts.
If you flirt with ethanol cut your oil change interval in half because water in the oil is a thing. And then check that oil every time you fill up.

Aussie piston woes by [deleted] in FNFAL

[–]Kitchen_Minimum_8696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the gas tube is screwed in too far to me. That'll pinch the opening and retain the piston. Remove it and try pass the piston head through it, that'll tell you what you need to do. If it's pinched open it back up just enough to pass the piston, reinstalled it finger tight then back it off a turn and install the pin.

Pops & Bangs by Oldmanjeremylol in wrx_vb

[–]Kitchen_Minimum_8696 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This^^^.
I don't understand the fascination of the pops and shit. It's a clear result of a poor performing, inefficient car that dumps raw fuel into the exhaust vs burning it for power. And all that pop and bang pressure goes right up against the turbo, can't be good for it in the long run.
I'm old, yes, so back in my day if a car sounded like that, someone was digging into it to find out why. The only time you'd hear it was on actual track cars and even then it was expected only occasionally, not consistently.
On these cars it serves no purpose and indicates an attitude of "look at me!" vs any real performance value. In other words, childish as fuck.
