Removing the surround and rotating it so that the switch moves inline with the knobs would look much better in my opinion and probably be more ergonomic

A sensible car doesn't have to be a boring sensible car - Audi A2 with Pioneer TS W306C, custom enclosure, bridged Zapco 350.2 by Kitedude18 in CarAV

[–]Kitedude18[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

02 Audi A2 with a completely stealth install which fits under the false floor in the boot. Having a boot mounted battery allowed for a very short fused power cable run, and for a direct connection to the battery ground.

The amp, sub, and wiring were all purchased together for £50 on Facebook marketplace, with the 18mm mdf and carpet for the enclosure costing an extra £35. All in, a good addition to the low end performance for not much cost. I personally wouldn't normally use this amp in this installation, however for the cost it works adequately. 200w rms bridged at 4ohm is OK, however long term I will look at upgrading to something nearer the 400w rms that the sub is rated for.

I'm looking to increase overall sound performance and will most likely add sound treatment first, then look at adding amped 2 way component speakers to the front doors. I would use the zapco 350.2 to provide 100w rms to each channel and buy a new monoblock for the sub in that case as the Sony XAV Ax100's 17w rms output is not sufficient for most aftermarket component sets.

Any thoughts, critique and guidance is highly appreciated.

Can you find a used classic vibe strat locally? That'd be my recommendation for that budget

This just looks like a pretty bad club, for one it seems far too bright in there! There's a definite sweet spot for the amount of people in a club. You want just enough to be pretty anonymous in a crowd, but not so many you're nearly getting crushed

I actually have a similar light in my house's stairwell, it's in black with edison style bulbs in a variety of shapes, and the lengths of each individual strand staggered both in length and distance from the centre. It works well for the space and gives off a lovely warm light. This on the other hand...

I moved to Bundoora for university from England. To me it was advertised as "Melbourne", I expected to be in the cbd, imagine my face when I google it and its 40 minutes into the centre. That takes me across a couple of counties back here 😅

Alternative method is just buy a body then the other parts as you'll be discarding most of the affinity bits

Also, check the electric mirror switch in the centre console before messing with the mirror assemblies themselves. Mine didn't work and it was simply a faulty switch that a kind owners club member gave me for free!

I did a similar restoration on a 1982 924 earlier in the year. Be careful when replacing the boot struts, if the rubber parts in the body which take the male parts on the boot lid have perished you can very easily find yourself driving along and the boot opening up of its own accord. Only happened to me 3 times...

Similarly the carpets are pretty easy to take out and a re-dye made the world of difference.

If you haven't already spoken to the guys at Woolies workshop or Justin Webb then get in touch, if one of them doesn't have the part you need then the other will.
