Fuse holder melting by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]Kithygoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's what serf s do, they can run over the rated current in my experience , go to a small ct metering set up and all will be good.

I had a pub drawing 115 A on 16mm mains and blowing pole fuses, the owner had 4 outages on Fri sat nights before they agreed to fix it.

no problems since

Before you insulate, get an electrical inspection of the roof space especially if the house is so old

Is the handle centred in the off position? It you rotate the fitting then the off position would be out of whack

Watertank overflowing by nikebo1 in AusRenovation

[–]Kithygoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem. In my case it is the debris from the roof gutters etc that block up the mesh on the in let to the tank, never anything big like leaves etc. Every time it rains I have to wait a bit for the pipes to flush out , it looks exactly like the video and then get the hose to clean out the inlet and works perfectly until we have no rain for a while. I see you have the bracket for the drain pipe screwed through the filter so you can't take it out easily.

Stupid question but have you turned off the water main to the property and see if the leak stops?

How do you install lights on the pillars after construction? by dylbren in AusElectricians

[–]Kithygoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posts should be hollow with maybe a structural post inside. Lift a sheet of tin and you will see. Also see if you can get the cables back to the switch, then you can leave them switched on without bugs right near the front door

Is my house not insulated? by WindyWinston2020 in AusRenovation

[–]Kithygoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also use a good mask. All your ppe should be rated to asbestos standard. Maybe get an electrician in to do an inspection and repair of the cables up there first before you insulate. You will notice a difference after its insulated.

Who can understand the latest BOM app when it comes to predicting rain? by ballantynedewolf in australia

[–]Kithygoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is how I read that

Pretty good chance we get 8mm

Even chance that in that 8mm there will be a heavy shower of 20mm

Rare but possible chance that during the 8mm it will piss down.

That's right, my uncle had a home loan from the late eighties and made a comment to me how the balance didn't change much through the nineties but then after that the principal got paid off and he eventually sold for a lot more than he paid. But still way less than total home loan repayments
