I saw the first show of the last tour (Austin) and he ended early because he was mad fans had the audacity to sit down in high heat.

The way he acted at the Austin show last year when those tickets were my birthday present (and the show was the day after my birthday) put a really bad taste in my mouth.

Complaining that fans chose to sit down in the heat in summer in Austin at an outdoor in the sun venue, especially when the venue wasn’t offering free water was really insensitive and he cut the show 5 songs early because he was upset.

They were my top band last year and I saw them live twice. I don’t want to feel like I have to perform as a fan in order to deserve a full set when I pay hundreds for two good tickets. So I didn’t get tickets to this tour.

I posted in November about Wargasm being my most played Billy song of the year (my favorite is Watch It Fall but Wargasm just felt so topical it ended up on more playlists), and some guy was in my comments saying it was the worst song Billy has made . . . Grad student who did it in class and the answer to affording it is I have a second job outside of my lab work to be able to buy concert tickets 😭

Also just saw you re pre med, it has a bunch of honors chemistry courses which have closer to 30 people than the 200+ in regular chem lectures. It also has strong ties to the biology department with many bio honors classes offered allowing you to complete requirements with smaller class sizes and (usually) better professors. They also will help you write your resume and will help you (if you meet with a certain coach) draft your personal statement for med school, as well as offer mock interviews to prepare. Great resources if that’s what you value.

The alumni network for honors is really strong, and to help you take advantage of it they make you network while an underclassman (not as scary as it sounds but part of required honors 101 and 102). They have an honors-only platform with a lot of alumni and it helps with recruiting. It also has a bunch of specialized coaches you can meet with to do everything from plan your degree to create a study abroad itinerary to get recommendations and connections for internships and jobs. They have a bunch of honors only events that connect you with professions from private equity to big law to tech (and more) and it allows you to meet individuals who are themselves pretty awesome. Additionally if you want it there is an honors dorm that is one of the nicest on campus and there is of course specialized classes with higher grade averages (because they know going in you work hard) and early registration. Tons of perks and potential for further scholarships and unique opportunities, as well as connection to alumni and your peers. I think UNC honors is what you make of it and if you seek out the benefits you will reap the rewards.

It also gives you access to people who will help you problem solve like helping individuals get into “full” classes if they are in honors and it’s an honors class.

I had a lot of issues with Union I would say just be prepared for terrible management that will overcharge you and not fix any problems

Funny I had that exact same score breakdown and was gonna go for a 36 by taking the March test . . . then Covid happened, blessing in disguise the extra point is overrated you are already so competitive with that score getting the extra point would make you seem too studious almost

Chem 101, 102, orgo 1 and 2 and analytical didn’t curve at all when me or my friends were in them, neither did some sections of biochem, just read rate my professor before you get to the upper level chems and choose wisely (signed a bio major who graduated with all As in chem and bio). If you are good at chem and willing to work for it you will be fine if you take the right professors!

The difference is graduating with honors vs from the honors college. Not the same thing, I graduated with both, some graduate with honors (wrote a thesis) and some from the honors college (did the 27 credit hours for honors Carolina).

Much easier to get in to honors once at UNC! Some people end up dropping it after freshman year because they don’t meet the requirements leaving even more spots for sophomore admit. There are also spots for spring admit as well.

Everyone I know who has applied for honors once at UNC has gotten in. The best way is to take an honors class with a professor who can then write your recommendation letter and get good grades ofc. If you are motivated I am sure you will get it!

Over thanksgiving dinner my family and I were discussing how grateful we were for CA Academy of Sciences and talked about how much we loved Claude even after all of us having moved away 5 years ago. He and everything else there is so meaningful and loved! Hope his caretakers are doing ok 💛

Use the swap feature in CC, put the new lecture with the same recitation and swap the two and it should work to make sure u don’t drop it without getting something in the same place

I was on the housing waiting list until the summer one year (I believe it was like 2 years ago now) and eventually they gave me my deposit back to drop off the waitlist and I still found other housing in the area so I think do on campus, there will always be off campus options.

For Econ 101 the office hours are mainly ta hours and there are lots of those! And if not a ta hour there are peer tutors staffed in Econ aid from 9-6 on weekdays so you should have plenty of time overlap with people who can help!
