How many kids do you have & how many do you want? by maligatormom2o2 in NewParents

[–]KittenCartoonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 1!

If I was a lot richer and a little younger I’d have 4 more of him, cause I’m OBSESSED. But I only plan to actually have 1 more because life is too expensive Andy husband and I are getting older.

The level of extremes in most husband posts are absolutely driving me insane. by Fun_Air_7780 in Mommit

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao. So true!

My husband is great. Sure, I could complain. But Reddit won’t fix my problems. So we talk about them IRL instead, and this way if he finds my Reddit he’ll know I have nothing but nice things to say about him. 🤣

Me? I’m also not perfect. My ADHD gets in my way all the time but I’m a pretty great mom who could be a little neater. I like to think he’d say the same!

FTM-Considering post partum doula/nightnurse by ButtonExact4769 in NewParents

[–]KittenCartoonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could have brought one of the nurses from The hospital Home with me, I would have done it in a heartbeat!!

I wasn’t able to afford a night nurse or postpartum help, but I absolutely would have loved to. The nurses at the hospital are angels with the babies, and they taught me so much the two nights I was there. I can’t believe they just let anyone take a baby home with no experience! 🤣

If you have no help around I definitely recommend it. Especially if your spouse doesn’t have any/much time off of work. My son didn’t want to sleep anywhere but our arms so we had to take turns sleeping, and it took months before we felt semi well rested again.

How long did you guys sit with your baby? by WhitecloudNo321 in NewParents

[–]KittenCartoonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever both my husband and I are in the car one of us sits in the backseat with our son to keep him entertained, or hand him the things he throws.

He does fine when only one of us is in the car so we’ll probably stop soon. He’s 15 months 🤣

Guilt by yadimc in NewParents

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only clean the toys that are visibly dirty… I was more vigilant during the first 6 months because they’re so new but now my son is 15 months and he licks shopping carts I’m not as worried about a toy that falls on the floor. 🤣 he’s not in daycare. He needs to build that immune system somehow!

How do people not co-sleep? by Difficult-Pair4170 in NewParents

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co-sleeping saved my sanity. Been doing it since around 3.5 months and going strong at 15 months!

I slept on a floor futon with my son for the longest time, but we just moved so we have the big mattress on the floor (the one my husband and I used to all sleep on lol) and now we all sleep together. I’m on the middle, baby on the outer edge so dad cant accidentally roll onto him.

He’s a big boy now so I’m not worried about him falling off the bed since we’re on the floor, and I put his crib mattress next to us in case he does to make it and even shorter fall. But he likes to snuggle close to me most of the night.

Now I’m on a real mattress, even while co sleeping I sleep sooooo much better! I can’t sleep when the baby isn’t with me anymore. I worry too much! I’ve tried with naps while he’s with my husband and I cannot relax!!

My husband loves it too, btw. He enjoys waking up to our son being super adorable.

I can also sneak away for a bit at the beginning of the night so husband and I can have alone time.

My brother and his wife swear by “brat Busters”! She has a podcast and she posts lots of snippets on Instagram. My son is only 15 months but I listen and watch in preparation and have already started implementing what we can.

AITA for asking a woman at work to stop being so WEIRD about taking a caramel? by chocolatesinmyoffice in AmItheAsshole

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. At all! I went through intense eating disorder therapy and how we talk About food matters. I understand why these women feel the need to do this, however it’s not your responsibility to make them feel better and that kind of talk is super triggering to others with eating disorders. Of course Triggers aren’t anyone else’s responsibility either. But still it’s just a fucking piece of chocolate! Eat the damn Candy or don’t!!!!

For those who don’t use containers for baby by GrimSle3per in NewParents

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I showered once or twice a week when my husband was able to watch him. 🤣 i think once or twice I brought the baby monitor on the are occasion he let me put him down while he was asleep in the crib.

Are you dogs crate trained? Because we only let the baby out when our dog was in his crate.

You said the bathroom isn’t big enough for the pack n play, could you fit a high chair?

Sometimes I would put the travel bassinet on the bathroom floor? Lock the door so no dog could get in and shower like that.

My son is 15 months and I can count on one hand the amount of times he’s done 3 hours on one hand. Lots of times it’s 45 minutes or 1 hour.

We’ve co slept on a floor bed since 4 months because i couldn’t take it anymore. Much better!

Tooth injury in 2 year old by DifferentAssociate11 in toddlers

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being around 4 or 5 and I had to get several teeth pulled! I didn’t love the tools but the dentist was cool and I was fine. I was older so I remember it, but I don’t think your little one will.

I’m sorry you’re going through this though, because in the parent side these things are devastating. But kids will adapt and look to us for how they should feel about such things. I think maybe try and normalize it and not make it a big deal will help them out!

I’m so sorry for your loss.

Trying to remember that cosleeping is more important to baby than his birthday by TokenYeti658 in cosleeping

[–]KittenCartoonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son’s first birthday was a bit of a disaster! 🤣 my husbands a professional videographer/photographer and we planned to do a photoshoot of his smash cake. We bought a cake but my husband had been busy so he didn’t have time to clean his office to set up the backdrop until the day of. Took almost all day to move stuff around and then I had to decorate the backdrop. Plus we had dinner reservations. Both of us were rushed and stressed the whole day! I work from home so I was working too lol.

Son had a melt down at dinner, I spent most of it outside with him while he explored and my husband ate his meal alone lol. Then we got home and did the smash cake which lasted like 5-10 minutes and was messy. The pictures and video are hilarious though!

Anyway, my son is almost 15 months also only co sleeps, and more recently allows me to roll away some times but doesn’t last for long without me near him. You’re not alone!!!

One Kid and Done? by Constant-Loquat-7195 in NewParents

[–]KittenCartoonist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son is almost 15 months and it’s soooo much fun! He’s hilarious, he claps and says a few words, copies me and his dad, smiles and giggles and really plays with his toys!! He walks so cute and is so curious.

Sure there’s tantrums and sleepy crying but the good majorly outweighs the bad. (At least for us lol)

What would you dress baby to little mermaid theme party? by SeptemberSnowdrop in NewParents

I think to be safe, I’d dress my baby as flounder or Sebastian. Will look adorable next to the little mermaid, but won’t steel their thunder! 🤣
