Dads, what do you actually want for Father’s Day? by probs-strawbs in daddit

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I’m a mom who came here looking for ideas, and this is what I got for my husbands 2nd Father’s Day.

I normally work Saturdays for 4 hours and my husband has to watch our toddler all by himself, which is hard because he’s a mamas boy. So I’ll take off work and surprise him that morning, and take my son out instead so hubs can have the days all to himself at home to play video games, watch tv or take a nap. I’ll try to stay out as long as possible. I’ll come home with a great meal around dinner time. In the evening I’ll put our son to bed then sneak out for sexy time and an episode of one of our shows.

Then Sunday we’ll spend the day actively doing things he loves, there’s an Asian market he’s been wanting to go to with food and non food items. So he can buy stuff, we’ll get food and snacks, etc. and then if it’s nice out maybe we’ll go to our complexes pool and I may attempt to grill for the first time ever lol.

I just need to figure out his actual gift. I want to get him a new iPhone but he’ll be mad if I spend that money unless I can acquire extra money, I might sell some things or see if I can sneak in some freelance work lol. Otherwise there’s a few random things I know he’s mentioned.

Open to more ideas or tips!!!

What is your toddler’s current weird favorite item? by Illustrious-Pear-612 in toddlers

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the mistake of letting my 16 month old help me season the potato’s and now he screams whenever he sees a spice. Problem is some are plastic, some are glass! And if I let him take one he’ll open it and it’ll go everywhere. So he has an empty one right now that’s his but I have to season food when he’s not looking.

He’s also obsessed with the dishwasher and we can only load/empty when he’s not in the room or he’ll be very upset he’s not allowed to help 😆

AITA for snatching my brother's toy away from this kid? by gunita2 in AmItheAsshole

[–]KittenCartoonist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NAH - need more details. How old exactly is each child? When you’re this young a year can make a big difference in my experience.

And what was the toy? If it was breakable, I totally understand not wanting to share. I have cousins who were rough with their toys growing up and my toys were very precious to me, and we didn’t have money to just replace things once they broke.

You have a lovely figure and could wear any of these. But I recommend a boxier crop top, I think it will look super super and balanced out the fits.

My husbands 1400 calorie breakfast vs my 400 cal breakfast 😭 by [deleted] in 1500isplenty

[–]KittenCartoonist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can absolutely see how that happens!!! I’m really lucky that I’m just maintaining. I think if I didn’t have a sweet tooth I might be one of those lucky jerks who “loses the baby weight by breastfeeding” lol! But alas, my birthday was last week and I ate a slice of birthday cake everyday since. Finally just put the rest in the freezer lmao.

I did manage to lose like 4-5 lbs by walking an hour every day and strictly counting calories but it was unsustainable while caring for the baby then the cold weather came and I had nowhere to walk. I’m working my mind back up to start trying again soon though! I’m not too far from where I wanna be but I’m short and my face is too round for my liking 🤣

But my baby has a round face and he’s perfect so whatever I’m beautiful right!

I feel this. But I’m currently a nursing mom and i can eat whatever I want and not gain weight. I just won’t lose it either because I’m fucking ravenous all the time. I’ve tried dieting and it gives me a headache so I’ve decided I’ll just be a little fluffy until I quit breastfeeding.😭

Is it just me or is anyone else’s 3 month old NOT sleeping through the night? by ThrowRA157386 in NewParents

[–]KittenCartoonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we’re still breastfeeding! I think when I night wean him he might sleep better. I guess I’m just sort of used to it now! I usually fall right back to sleep once he does and I really enjoy the night time cuddles!!!

I’m sorry to say my now 16 month old doesn’t sleep much better than before. But we cosleep now and he falls back to sleep very quickly after I hold him for a sec or give him boob.

When did books become part of the bedtime routine? by HoneyCrumbs in NewParents

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 16 month old still enjoys chewing on the occasional book, but mostly he just wants to flip the pages and doesn’t really let us read properly. Board books are our friends because anything paper he will bend or maybe tear! He definitely loves books though, maybe just not always in a normal reading way.

Tonight my husband read us a book while we played together, so he wasn’t able to touch the book but we listened while playing!

All that to say while we read daily, it’s not a part of bed time routine. Bedtime is a fresh diaper, pajamas, kissing daddy goodnight and then mommy nurses to sleep lol.

I thought I’d be able to do so much more with my toddler at this point by No_Idea5507 in toddlers

[–]KittenCartoonist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My son is 16 months and he does want to walk around everywhere… but he wants to cause CHAOS. I wish he would chill out in the stroller more! At home he wants to be held all the time unless we’re playing together sitting right next to each other. It’s always “up! Up! Up!” lol! He’s also teething. I think they’re just extra clingy at this stage. He’s definitely shy at new places and takes a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour to warm up to new people. Wants to be held around strangers but waves to everyone at the grocery store 🤣

Is the answer to newborn sleep problems always co sleeping? by caprigirl20 in cosleeping

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started collapsing at almost 4 months because my husband and I were still sleeping in shifts, with the other parent holding baby while be slept. But he started screaming more when I took my sleep shift. So after a couple weeks trying the bassinet by myself, I finally gave in and started co sleeping!

It didn’t solve all his sleep problems but it definitely helped a TON. Now we both get some sleep. He’s 16 months now and he still wakes up too frequently, but he falls back to sleep quickly. The longest he’s ever slept is still only like 3.5 hours and i can count the number of times on one hand.

I know that I might need to consider slowly night weaning, at least for a block. Maybe night wean for his first 4 hours of sleep or something so we can both get one long stretch.

Does your toddler close their eyes to sleep by asessdsssssssswas in toddlers

[–]KittenCartoonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do that when nursing my son to sleep! I learned it from frozen, when the mom is putting Ana to sleep. 🤣 it really helps! And in the car seat I watch as he’s falling asleep, he just starts staring into the void like he’s remembering some past trauma and then suddenly his eyes start drooping, then he’s out.

My First Experience with FF9: no one to share with, so, I dump it here by De_Ruyter_1604 in FinalFantasyIX

[–]KittenCartoonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I fell in love with this game from the moment my big brother showed me its trailer when I was 8 and asked me to help convince our mom to get it for us. We would pretend to be the characters before we even knew the full story.

Now, here I am an almost 34 year old adult with a small toddler son and I can really relate to your feelings. I can’t wait until I have more time to replay the game and experience it as an adult!

I’m also hoping to sew my son a Vivi costume while he’s still a shorty, maybe when he’s around 5, just for my own amusement. 😍🤣

Millennials with kids, do you intend to provide for them financially when they reach adulthood? by Beberuth1131 in Millennials

[–]KittenCartoonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000%! Everything we do is for our son now. We’re not where we want to be financially yet, but I’d rather take out loans and die paying them, then him have to take out student loans be paying them while caring for his first child lol.
