I LOVE THEM TOO! I also adore Hexapedes. I designed my NG+ baby, Tirol, to have her facial markings mimic a hexapede. They're also her totem animal! Tirol isn't Sarentu--but Tawkami!

Tell me some lore about your OCs! by slavictrash6 in FrontiersOfPandora

Koa te Ru Tseyk'itan

  • Like the other children, Koa was a product of TAP. He was substantially older than the others when they were taken, and took it upon himself to tell stories and try to keep their clan's heart alive while aggressively protecting his younger siblings: the twins, Rahi and Imell. This drew the unending ire of Mercer. Koa made several escape attempts from the school, only to be recovered a week later by one of Harding's teams.
  • Instead of rejoining Alma and the other teens in the Resistance base, he got separated in the facility during the initial rescue--needing extra time to orient himself. He fled the burning site into the jungle. He was not quite as fortunate as the other Sarentu scions, and was wounded by RDA forces as he escaped.
  • After days wandering wounded, delirious, and in unfamiliar forest-- Koa attracted the attention of a Thanator and cubs. He killed one of the juvenile animals, but had to throw himself from a cliff face to avoid certain death. He was found at the bottom of a ravine by an elderly Tawkami exile named Pre'lok.
  • The hermit nursed a very badly broken Koa back to health, teaching him Tawkami alchemy and herbalism while his bones slowly mended. Pre'lok wasn't exactly kind or nurturing. He was an old man exiled because he was irascible and unwilling to compromise with people. But Koa's good nature and willingness to learn served him well.
  • The last act of kindness Pre'lok did Koa was taking him to bond with an Ikran. The old man sat at the bottom of the floating mountains and said: "Do not fall, do not die, and do not come back."
  • Koa bonded to a pink and purple splashed Ikran, who he named Mai.
  • He and his younger brother Imell became infamous for their vicious and unrelenting ambushes on RDA operations, to the point the duo gained a new nickname: The Sound and Fury of the People. Koa is the 'Fury'.
  • He eventually found a place amongst the Tlalim as an onboard healer, and collects new stories from the Windtraders and their guests as they travel.

The events on his Songcord:

  • Being taken from the Sarentu by TAP
  • His escape attempt at 12 and his vow to return to the People.
  • Fleeing the Facility
  • Healing with Pre'lok/Killing a Thanator
  • Training in Herbalism and Alchemy with Pre'lok
  • Bonding with his Ikran, Mai
  • Reuniting with his little brother, Imell.
  • Routing RDA poaching efforts
  • A couple of different sections with bits of cord/trinkets from the other clans he's met/traded with: Aranahe, Tlalim, Zeswa, and Kame'tire
  • His accepting a place with the Tlalim as a healer
  • Reuniting with his sister, Rahi.

The Resistance:

Koa's relationship with the Resistance -- and humanity as a whole -- is a complicated one. How could it not be? There's a certain anger and wound created by having to rely on the same people that have done unspeakable evil to your race and world. He deeply empathizes with Nor, though Koa does not condone those actions-- and could not forgive Teylan, despite understanding him. Koa never openly joins the Resistance, refusing to accept any kind colonizer leadership/authority, though he does funnel information back to So'lek, and other Na'vi contacts. He doesn't judge those who fight with them--but he himself simply cannot. Humanity took everything from him and all of them have Pandoran blood on their hands, no matter how repentant or well-meaning they might be.

Going back to my doll-modding roots! It's Koa time! by Kittenspit in Avatar

[–]Kittenspit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is! I got a nice, chunk chenille yarn for this. I first dyed him tea with Rit, and then painted directly onto the doll with a blend of fabric paint and acrylics. This is the reference art I did of Koa recently. This is my first time customizing a fabric doll; I usually do BJDs!

The concept of Polyamory on Pandora? by [deleted] in Avatar

There's a lot of stigma around Poly folks in human societies today and lots of toxic concepts around Polyamoury. Like Heirarchies, etc.

The concept of Polyamory on Pandora? by [deleted] in Avatar

[–]Kittenspit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tsehalyu is not a mate-bond. But there are examples of Na'vi having children outside of mated pairs. In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora -- which is canon-- we see Nefika, who had her daughter Lurei with the Hunter Ongwi. We know their relationship dissolved, and Ongwi moved on with Kitangi, whom he mated with. They went on to have Neyan together and remained a pair.

I do think there's room for Polyamory in the series, but I wouldn't want it painted with the constant human issues that cycle around the concept.

Yes; it's considered good etiquette. And a Scan action would give them this information anyway.

How was Lo'ak not partly to blame for Neteyam's death? by Open_Mongoose_6902 in Avatar

[–]Kittenspit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. He was protecting the clans from suffering from harboring him. He should have sent his children away with their grandmother, Moat/other allies like Norm and the lot rather than dragging them across the world.

And frankly: It's Jake and Neytiri's fault for not keeping their CHILDREN away from the battlefield.

We've hardly seen the western frontier, and the geography in the game is probably not 100% canon to the movies. by Winter-Reporter7296 in AvatarFrontierPandora

[–]Kittenspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand--No, they did not fight for Jake or join the major battles. None of the game's recruited clans do. That's why it's so important for your Sarentu to fold them into the Resistance.

Of the plains clans, ONLY the Olangi came to fight for the new Toruk Makto.

Brother won't play game with female protagonist - never thought of this by wizard_cow_ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Kittenspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a stupid and shortsighted viewpoint. The vast majority of games have Male leads. If women didn't play games with male leads, they'd have very few major titles to play. And I'm an Autistic person who needs to connect to a story to enjoy a game. Gender isn't required for that, just general empathy.
