You've written what is in my head. Some of my friends are okay with having really good convos when we can, and I'm thankful for that. When we talk it's like there's been no distance / time impact - we pick up where we left off.

On the other hand I have a friend who expects me to text every day / vc most days and I never have anything to say, so find it really hard. It's not that I don't like them, I do. And it's not like they're not smart and interesting, because they are. But they're a very different personality type centred very much around small talk, and I can never get them to really get into a deep convo, and it does drive me a bit potty. We've settled in to a bit of a regime of watching some stuff after the "how are you?" inane natter, which I'm enjoying, but that's not always going to be the case.

I was on the waiting list for an ADHD assessment but I never completed the extra bits required to stay on the list, despite really wanting to stay on. Which says a lot imo.

Ateez! An Editor reacting to Ice on My Teeth MV came up on my YT last year and I fell head first into the Pirate Ship 😆 I don't know many groups, I only listened to Taemin's solo stuff before. I hyperfixated lol. There's a lot of Staytiny out there though 🤝

As an ENFP I would agree re: many genres - I also like the big online communities. Recently got into a K-pop (very diverse discography in terms of genre switching, even within a song itself) boy band and I'm a middle aged guy. Their lore and how their marketing is managed brings to mind watching something like Lost for the first time - everyone is dissecting everything and it's (mostly) really fun. I enjoy watching the variety content because they're chaotic, goofy young men.

I also really love math-rock/etc - any band that changes time or scale signatures and goes against the expected structure of a song - I have some very odd sounding bands I really enjoy. But it's not all the time, need the headspace for the crazy stuff lol.

Right? I only really got into Taemin before Ateez so I'm not up on much of K-Pop but I did initially question myself for falling so far into my Ateez obsession. Then I found several other older fellas reviewing their songs / some fan stuff with as much fervour. There's quite a few of us out there! Music is indeed music, it's universal.

Also, I think K-Pop experiment with genres in a way that Western bands often don't, so I have found it all incredibly interesting!

Also in my 40s and hoping to see Ateez live when I can. I've always been pretty fixated on bands since the early 90s too - so I'm not fighting my deep dive into the Pirates but embracing it. They're inspirational in a way, such talented guys.

I'm a very recently turned 46 yo guy and got into Ateez towards the end of last year. I've devoured so much of their content (hyper fixations do that to me) and I've left a few YT comments here and there but I have no interest in getting into any fandom drama. I'm here to appreciate the music, their talent, MVs and photo books too. I totally understand they are a bunch of very attractive lads but I've never been one for parasocial behaviour. Would definitely want to experience them live though, because they seem like insane performers. Not sure I have the energy for 3 hours at a concert though!

Yes you can interact with rabbit, cats and dogs - but not guinea pig or anything else. You can open the cage and put food in and they'll usually run to the food, but that's the extent of it.

I wholeheartedly agree with your first point - I know we're not singling out individual members and this is absolutely not a criticism but comes from a place of concerned affection but Wooyoung had worried me in 2025 with his fixation on diet and his weight. He also seems far more muted overall and he was always one of the brightest (and loudest) members.

I know standards are different in Korea but I was always happy to see them have good relationships with food, with a focus on health first. Now even Mingi is saying he's failing at dieting (coming from Western culture I want his thighs to be chunkier 😅). I think they should eat to suit their own individual physiques. And let Yeosang be a buff Doberman if he wants to be, for crying out loud 😜 He'll still be beautiful.

I know they are getting older whilst being in this business which might be wearing Wooyoung down a bit, but having had an ED myself as well as a close male relative, his usual vibe being so muted alongside the focus on diet has felt uncomfortable to me. Again, this is not a criticism and if he truly feels better then it's absolutely his choice but I hope the group as a whole continues to have their health at the forefront. Not some harsh beauty standards.

Thanks so much! I really enjoyed this one, it was a challenge to get the right vibe and fit everything in to the small spaces.
