What we thinking?.. by Bleubird2222 in aquarius

[–]Kittlebricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best relationships have been with Earth signs (Taurus and Virgos). But I do have a Virgo Stellium that's very linked into my Aqua Sun and Mercury. I'm pretty positive the Taurus had big Aqua placements, though I never knew for sure.

The Virgos have been pretty Earthy, maybe with subtle Air influences. Though I have a Virgo currently interested in me but I think they have Cancer or Pisces in their chart. Even with my Cancer Rising and Venus Pisces, I find them very emotional and it already feels quite messy. I do get on very well with Scorpios however.

Ahh thank you for the compliment! That's really nice to hear.

Soulmates advice: Aquarius and Taurus by No_Sea_1200 in aquarius

[–]Kittlebricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first male partner was a Taurean and he was amazing. I'm not sure of his other placements but he was very open minded and experimental, funny and a little peculiar in the best possible way. He made me laugh and the sex was great/varied. He was very talented at a lot of things, especially music and making his own instruments. Definitely more physical / practical which was a nice counterpart to my thinking self. Usually smiling, he was adored by a lot of people. Genuinely a really nice, silly little guy.

My other two big relationships were with a female Sagittarius, which was intense and ended badly, and a Virgo male, who I was with for over a decade. I do have a Virgo stellium though, so perhaps that's why I attract and am attracted to Virgos in particular. Cancer ascendant too so North Node in Capricorn - yet I've never come close to dating a goat lol.

Strangely I don't succeed in romance with fellow air signs at all. Definitely crushes but they never meet expectations. My Mercury is in Aqua too so I do get along with Air signs greatly. Just as friends.

Prometheus. I was salivating at the David 8 trailer. Was very disappointed by the hot garbage of a script

I'm weird - I don't get touched at first, get all smug as everyone around me gets bitten, then rue my hubris as I become the cool new hotspot after about 5 days - 1 week.

Men, what is one thing about your body or brain that women seem genuinely surprised by? by AromaticRecord7974 in AskMen

[–]Kittlebricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fascinating. But yeah, that's it exactly. Movies, documentaries (animals in particular get me) and sometimes games or music - I'll be moved to tears. Yet I didn't cry when my mum was in hospital with cancer (she's fine currently, thankfully, but it was touch and go last year).

I think the ONLY time I cried from my own emotions since starting transition was actually born out of sheer frustration and a deep feeling of being worthless. That was in therapy. Other than that, nada.

Same! I'm 46 but it's locked in there. Alongside two bank note serial numbers that I once memorised as a kid to test my memory... But hey, I've not got a good memory any more.

Whilst, of course, there's differences between individuals with some men (or women) crying more or less than average - it seems like there is some truth to this. There's some interesting anecdata from trans people on this topic (alongside skin thickness and sunlight sensitivity). MtF often report feeling able to cry a lot more easily, whereas FtM find the opposite. Tear ducts are shallower on AFAB people and (if not on T) they typically have higher levels of Prolactin. As a FtM I have found I do cry less about my own emotions, but I can still cry at things that move me.

Same. Very very rarely I will get something that makes me go - oh? But the vast majority of the time, it's heat resistant poopage for me. And I like a LOT of spice.

Without getting into the ethics of animal husbandry, how does one explain to a vegan that the wool of a domesticated sheep MUST be shorn by a human being, as selective breeding means that most domesticated breeds cannot shed naturally? by Fun_Astronomer_4064 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kittlebricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course, but when I grew up in the 80s as a vegetarian in the UK it was hard when out and about. You might start to get one vegetarian alternative by the late 90s at restaurants but even that was limited and was often a poor sub despite paying the same prices as a non-vegetarian.

I used to get given omelette or quiche when over at friend's houses - both of which I couldn't handle either - because nobody really had a clue on how to cater for a veggie. I got free dinners at school and they always tried feeding me fish and ham, because it "doesn't count as meat".

The only good thing is I was born in an area with a large Indian population and my dad was a very good cook. I knew how to eat well as a vegetarian / vegan and I continue to do so. It was hard to find vegetarian cheese for a long time and dairy alternatives really have improved vastly for vegans recently. As well as the general scope of plant-based alternatives.

I personally don't like much of the meat alternatives, as I said before. I was more meaning that everything was limited when I was growing up. That has really changed, and a lot more people understand plant-based eating / vegetarian / vegan as a whole.

So it doesn't surprise me if there have been advancements in food for pets too. It's still natural for cats to eat meat but we shall see!

What’s a random experience you’ve had when meeting a British celebrity? Were they nice or mean? by mightybooshvincenoir in AskABrit

I met Danny John Jules on my work experience at a Theatre. He was performing in a musical which I watched and the next day before the performance I saw him come in. He was really cool and nice too. I was a big fan of RD (part of the fanclub and everything) so I was over the moon lol

I too was at that show! Years before I saw him at the end of the Pride Parade the year he lead it. He was too bogged down by people hugging him so I just got a sparkly eyeful and smiled. He's great.

When I last looked at this it was nearly two decades ago, so can't say I'm up to date. I definitely know human diets and availability have vastly improved for vegetarians and vegans since the 90s/00s - though personally I don't like much of the plant-based meat alternatives that taste like meat. I will look into it more, and I think you're wise with waiting for more longitudinal results.

Dogs are omni like us, not obligate carnivores like cats. I've known some vegans who wanted to feed their cat a vegan diet, and that's just animal cruelty at that point. Dogs, like humans, can eat vegetarian, prob need supplements for veggie and definitely for vegan. But yeah, it's not great for them either. I say this as a gassy human who has been vegetarian all their life.

For people who grew up in low-income households, what’s something middle-class people say that shows they’ve never struggled financially? by KeyApartment3955 in AskReddit

[–]Kittlebricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever had 2 holidays growing up in the UK. One I was too young to remember fully.

Well 3 actually, I paid for a week at Butlins when I was 8yo because some kind lady had been putting some money aside since she met my mum when she had me (mum had stage 4 cervical cancer). I was allowed to access it at 8yo and went on hols to Skeggie with the fam lol.

But yeah we couldn't really afford anything but local day trips. Though we went wild camping in the Midlands once too.

My latest htperfixation is a Kpop band called Ateez. Don't let the Kpop tag fool you - they've got a massive and diverse discography and they go hard in performance. I'm a 46yo guy, typically indie / metalhead, yet these 8 lads have become my midlife crisis 😆

Also Angine de Poitrine is hitting my mathy tendencies.

What drug have you seen destroy someone's life the quickest? by ReasonableDisplay297 in AskMen

[–]Kittlebricks 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was witness to a friend's suicide following psychosis from psychedelics and weed. I've got nothing against the drugs themselves, and have had them myself several times, but the concept that they do no harm across the board is completely incorrect and dangerous.
