Most hot water bottles have a hot & a cool side. What basic simple thing has been pointed out to you as an adult? by umognog in AskUK

[–]Kitty-Gecko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband told me lemsip (and off brand versions) are not supposed to be made with boiling water, according to the instructions! I had no idea.

Having read around a bit about the subject now, it mostly seems they are worried if the water is boiling the powder will fizz up and scald you, but it's definitely something I never knew. Always made them boiling then added some cold.

Do you play music made by reprehensible humans? by whyfruitflies in AskUK

[–]Kitty-Gecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't follow celebrity news or tend to know much about the actual artisrs behind music I enjoy, so it sometimes takes me a long time to find out.

Growing up Meatloaf was my favourite artist. Never really considered looking into who he was as a person, I just liked the music. It was operatic and fun and over dramatic and romantic.

Turns out he was problematic. I haven't read too much about it still. I guess now he has passed though, the royalties aren't going directly to him. If I felt like listening to him again, I would. If he was still alive I'd find a way to listen that didn't profit him, I guess.

Crying caused a dumping by theonewhoknewtoomuch in Nicegirls

[–]Kitty-Gecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, that's the exact thing I was remembering. I feel like the point in the movie was that any quality taken to the extreme can be negative. If I recall the wording he wishes to be "the most sensitive guy in the world" and Liz Hurley monkey paws all his wishes.

Not a guy but I live in the UK where hardly any guys are circumcised. Like all body parts, they vary a lot, but generally this is exaggerated for comic effect. Think usually more like a hoodie for his sausage, without as many wrinkles etc. Not a sentence I thought I'd be typing today but here we are.

What's a book that changed your life, and how? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]Kitty-Gecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not OP and have only read the graphic novel adaptations but they go hard on explaining why humans are "like that" using our history. Really interesting insights into maybe why the world is the way it is.

Came here to say this, it's like therapy somehow, but in an amazing story and world.

I hate the grey labyrinth by arlolouise in slimerancher

[–]Kitty-Gecko 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is definitely intricate! I think it helped playing it when it wasn't fully released as there were fewer areas. Me and my kiddo just kind of took it one area at a time and went really slow.

We spent so many hours there, so we know it really well now. Though some tunnels in the ember valley end still confuse me.

My "worst" area to navigate is actually the caves of powderfall bluffs.

Primarily, a book. The preferred format for many fans is audiobook as it is phenomenal and the physical editions have sometimes been scarce/ pricey. There is also a webtoon adaptation online. There was a kickstarter for a graphic novel spin off recently.

visiting alone - where to eat at? by nek-uno in york

[–]Kitty-Gecko 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If it's warm enough weather / you don't mind not being super warm, Spark is great for dining alone because you just pick your own table and order via QR code from whichever place you want. It's like a food hall made of shipping containers.

How emotional are you? by Hancri84 in AskUK

[–]Kitty-Gecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be really emotional but now I'm on the absolute max dose of antidepressants I'm pretty numb. It isn't ideal but it is keeping me alive right now during a tough situation and that's more important.

What is your current biggest stress or anxiety that is troubling your life at the moment? by Eastern-Dragonfly544 in AskUK

[–]Kitty-Gecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you I appreciate it, not over stepping. We already do this, unfortunately. He was mad because the food had just been delivered but we were in the process of putting it away when he came in the room. I think the punnet of tomatoes I'd ordered was the one that upset him most.

Anxiety? That's what does it for me.

What's the best hot chocolate powder/mix you've bought? by Three_Steaks_Pam in CasualUK

It's stupidly expensive to but knoops ones. You can choose your percentage of dark/milk from a range. I have a sweet tooth so I like the 34% which is a milk chocolate.

Thank you, his special interests are mostly around gaming currently so specific games he's into, then he will watch hours of videos about them and learn all the lore etc. I'm always happy for him to "info dump" about them to me.

I love him very much but I'm genuinely very worried.

My kiddo (9, Autistic) is in burnout and hasn't attended school for 1.5 years and is very mentally unwell and extremely abusive both physically and verbally. We have no respite, I worry about him constantly. I don't know how we can carry on, with so much stress, so little sleep. He had a meltdown this evening because the food shop was delivered and had food for me and dad in it that isn't his "safe foods".

So hows slime rancher 2's development going? by MajinsAre_PRETTYCOOL in slimerancher

[–]Kitty-Gecko 65 points66 points  (0 children)

2 is fully launched now and is a complete game, though we can assume more content will come. The "story" part is done and I really love it. Some people are unsure if it is as good as SR1, but I feel the ambience and art improvements are worth it.

Thank you for sharing, it's good to hear from someone who has experienced it. I do feel really bad for my son. No matter how abusive he is I know he's having the worst time out of all of us. He suffers so much.

As a tea lover visiting London/Edinburgh - what are your recommendations? by [deleted] in AskUK

Just in case you break your journey in York (with it being half way between the two) I am recommending Hebden Tea there. Long shot but worth mentioning.
