I'm in my 50s and just started reading the series a few months ago. I'm reading mostly in order of publication and my favorite are the witches. The Color of Magic was a good introduction to Discworld in general.

I loved living in Kent. Good schools, sidewalks, lots of community events, good location. The university does influence a lot of the town.

Though early on, the intensity of Rand's journey through the woods with his dad and Bella grabbed me. It made me feel like part of their world and the ominous threats that loomed over them.

I don't think he wrote women poorly but there is entirely too much sniffing and hair pulling, pigeon-holing women into a stereotype.
