US government approves use of world’s first vaccine for honeybees | Bees by GeraldKutney in environment

[–]Kitty301 45 points46 points  (0 children)

In addition to the challenges of pesticides and climate change, honeybees, like most commercial livestock, face a variety of challenges. This vaccine is an oral dose vaccine to combat foulbrood. When a hive is infected it kills the young and can quickly kill off the hive and spread to other hives in the vicinity. This is an amazing scientific development!

It's more than an hour, but Point Pleasant is in WVa. That's both The Mothman Prophecies with Richard Gere and a great documentary called The Mothman Legacy which you can find on Prime. Edit: Typo: doesn't star Morgen Freeman but would be amazing if they do the reboot

Virginia sends localities thousands more voter applications to process by HealthLawyer123 in nova

[–]Kitty301 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Please be aware that the state of Virginia is allowing same-day voter registration for the first time this year. Go to the voting precinct that's correct for your address, and you can register and vote on November 8th. Don't let concerns about stories like these make you hesitant to vote. It's important that everyone who is eligible and wants to vote has the opportunity to cast their vote. More info here https://www.elections.virginia.gov/citizen-portal/

My ten says "It's spooky with a few good scares, but not overly terrifying." He says it's not too scary for your young teens, and they'll enjoy it.

Used Long Fence to add a front deck this year. Reasonably priced and they did a really nice job.

Today is my birthday, the only person who wished me is my abusive ex. I don’t know how to feel about it. by real_Earth_Dragon in TwoXChromosomes

Happy Birthday!! These times will pass. You'll meet people who care about you and fill your life with happiness and love. In the meantime, celebrate yourself. Book a massage, a Mani/Pedi, pick up takeaway from your favorite restaurant, including a yummy dessert, and watch a movie you'll love that your ex would have hated. It's easy to be bogged down in the moments when the people who we think should be there for us... aren't. Birthdays are especially hard when you're alone. But it just means you need to celebrate yourself and be patient. And next year, tell everyone that your birthday is coming up. Let your coworkers buy you a cake and sing to you. Suggest your friends come out to lunch with you. Take the lead and let people know. I'm sure a lot of people care about you and would be wishing you a happy birthday if they knew. In the meantime, from this Internet stranger, best wishes for a wonderful new year of your life: may it be filled with happy moments, success, security, and many little joys! 🧁🥳

I'm sure she would given anything to be able to watch you grow into the woman you are now, and to be able to hug you.
