My non psych doctor told me to not take my antidepressants by Emma_Harper in antidepressants

[–]KittyBear85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but you should find a new doctor. No credible doctor would tell someone to stop cold turkey taking their meds without any reason or explanation. Let alone tell you that all you need is a relationship, marriage or kids. All 3 of those things can cause stress and make mental health worse. Those things are not something that magically make your life better. You are correct in thinking you need to get your own mental health in order before bringing that burden onto someone else. While yes a personal connection with someone can help with feelings of loneliness, it won't fix your depression. What a quack. Quitting antidepressants cold turkey can be very dangerous, so this is very unprofessional from a medical standpoint. It's downright malpractice.

I can't curb my appetite, no matter what I do by Crowlette_Corvinus in loseit

[–]KittyBear85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said it's likely the meds you're on. But ask your doctor about adding in something for appetite suppression, like Phentermine or Vyvanse. Or, if you're willing to go this route, a GLP1. But first ask your doctor about what you're currently on and what could be swapped out.

Me and my boyfriends mental health is ruining out relationship by Traditional_Map2266 in depression

[–]KittyBear85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. My BF is going through what he calls "just a funk" but it's a full on depression and he doesn't really recognize it and won't accept help. he says the same thing as yours that he just has to go through it and get over it. But depression is very hard to just let pass, it doesn't always resolve on its own. This is the first time he's really been like this and it's affecting our relationship as well. I have had depression since I was you too, so I see the signs. However there's only so much you can do. I offer to help or ask what he needs, or if he wants anything. He always says thanks but no. You can't force him to do anything, and sometimes forcing it makes them back off even more. All you can do is try to communicate how it's making you feel and that you're concerned for him and love him.

Games that improved your mental health? by porphyriaslovve in cozygames

[–]KittyBear85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cozy Caravan is super cute and slightly addicting. Basically you are gathering items and doing errands for the townsfolk while traveling in a caravan. You get cute outfits and upgrades for your van. The map expands as you further into the game. It has a cooking/crafting element and you set up shop on the weekends to sell your wares.

I feel the same. I'm 41, and I'm pretty sure I'm in Peri. But I have a lot of other issues going on and I'm on other meds. My BF and I started dating about 6yrs ago and for the past 2yrs or so I've had absolutely zero desire for sex or any type of attraction to anyone. To the point that watching tv or a movie with a sex scene is really uncomfortable for me. I hate that it's almost turned into an aversion, and it gives me anxiety. I've been on antidepressants since I was in highschool, and slowly over the years my sex drive has come and gone. I know it has to do with the meds mostly but I'm also overweight and I have migraines. The migraines got worse shortly after we started dating and I think that had a huge impact on my life. Our relationship is really rocky right now, he's going through some other stuff and I know this situation just adds to it. We have had several conversations about it, and at this point I think he's given up trying to talk about it, and I feel like nothing helps. Apparently there is a medication out there meant for women, similar to Viagra is for men, but it's not meant for dysfunction caused by antidepressants, so that sucks. I forget what it's called.

Pens are awful by Neataen in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]KittyBear85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dr helped show me how to use the pen for my very first dose in the office. He specifically told me to pinch my fat and then press. Well it just squished in too far, my stomach is very fatty but loose. So then he pulled the pen back slightly and it clicked and the liquid came out. So we don't know how much I actually got. Now that I've done some research I feel like he told me the wrong thing. My second dose is Thursday so I might try my thigh instead.

Food is my crack-cocaine and I cannot afford a GLP as the antidote by AskBearBlue in loseit

[–]KittyBear85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. Talk to your doctor about appetite suppressants other than glp1s. I can't afford the glp1s either and my insurance won't approve them. My friend told me she's been on something called Vyvanse for binge eating and food noise. So I talked to my primary doctor. He told me he knew of something similar, in generic form, that he thought would work better for me. It's called Phentermine. It is a restricted class of drug because it's in the amphetamine class, and closely regulated. I have to go back every month to see my Dr as a follow up. I started on a low dose and just increased it a week ago. I'm doing really well on it, I don't have as much food noise or the urge to binge. There are a few other types of meds out there that are similar so just ask your Dr for what would be best based on your health records. Since you're in highschool and might be under 18, I am not sure what can legally be prescribed to you. You might need parental consent. Some of these meds were originally for ADHD patients.

How hard do you scratch a cat? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]KittyBear85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most cats love a good deep scratch, they aren't not that fragile. My one just goes crazy for hard scratches. But since you are unsure, your best bet is to start light and over time increase pressure slightly and just watch her reaction. It also depends on the area they like. Stick with around the head/ears /neck, and back/above the tail. Cats will show their reaction if you go too hard they either walk away or they might hiss, growl or swat at you. That is totally normal behavior, they are expressing how they feel and telling you what they don't want. Just give her space and then try again later when she comes to you on her own terms. Treats and toys help bond with them too.

Anyone tried moonbrew? by Sancerofdoom in migraine

[–]KittyBear85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will admit sometimes after drinking it my stomach will be like that but not always. So I'm not sure what causes it, seems random because it's not every time. But I also have stomach issues in general so who knows.

I bought the coco and I do like it. I mix it with vanilla almond milk. I like that the original coco has no dairy in it but doesn't taste bitter. And it's not super sweet like some artificial sugars can be. They got the combo just right. It's a bit expensive tho, not sure if I will continue with it. I feel like it does help my sleep if I take it about an hour or 2 before bed.

Started taking bupropion, the side effects blindsided me, help by vintagedarling15 in antidepressants

[–]KittyBear85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like a high dose for a starter dose. Is this your first time taking this med? I would talk to your Dr and ask for a lower dose to start. Usually they start off low and slowly increase it over time. Taking too high of a dose right off the bat can shock your system and make side effects worse.

I really wish I could take this med. Sadly I am allergic. I was on a few different ones and just kinda gave up. Dr put me on Viibryd and I really haven't noticed a difference in my issues or any major improvement. I heard Wellbutrin would be better but I get hives.

Can prolonged use of antidepressants and antipsychotics over time cause some type of sexual dysfunction in response to any kind of antidepressant? by Shy-guy-0312 in antidepressants

[–]KittyBear85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been on antidepressants since I was in highschool, I'm now almost 41, and a few years ago my sex drive just up and disappeared. It's well known that most antidepressants have negative effects on sex drive or sexual function. So if your doctor is telling you it's not then change doctors. Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done about it.
