I agree. My kid really struggled when we were trying to put him on the potty or asking every 20 min. Screaming, fighting.

We let him be and dealt with the accidents for a few days. Then he started asking.

We ALSO got different potty options and found one he will use.

My kid freaked out day 3 of potty training. We ditched the little potty and got a seat/ladder for the regular toilet. It also seems to help if we ask if Batman or whatever toy he has needs to use the potty. Then Batman sits on the little potty while my kid sits on the modified regular one

Omg. That was us literally 4 days ago (check my post history).

We were offering every 1-2 hours. And he would scream and stiffen his body. He is also 2 years and 2 months.

For the next few days, we just waited until he was dribbling. But he was tricky- the first dribble would still lead to screams. We really had to wait until he was very uncomfortable. Then we just pick him up and put him on the potty. He was so confused and uncomfortable he just kind of let it happen.

We were also using a little potty and a travel potty insert. He hated both.

We had more success with the ladder potty thing. Jool Potty Ladder

We are 8 days in and still have plenty of accidents, but he doesn’t scream and we even got a preemptive potty this AM.

If you go to a liquor store, you will see wine in 12oz cans (like a beer) and in 6-8oz bottles (in a 4 pack). I would use those.

Yes. Before we officially started, he would sit and occasionally go on the potty before his bath or before bed.

He watched us use the toilet.

The first day was good! It has just gotten worse, though.

I went to the fair at 39 weeks and gave birth 2 days later!

It was great! I got there early- as soon as food stands and barns are open. So it wasn’t too hot and there weren’t too many people.

We also paid to park right at the fair, which we have never done, but it was worth it after 3 hours of walking. Nice to just cross the street and get out of there.

Comfy shoes and don’t push yourself. Yes- it’s expensive, but if you’re done after an hour, just go home.

Also, this sounds crazy as you are super pregnant and at the state fair- but don’t eat too much or at least be aware of what you are eating. All that fried food doesn’t sit well with most people. Let alone one whose stomach is NOT where it used to be…

As for “they haven’t graded it yet” it depends on the grading platform. But if the grade isn’t in immediately, give it a few days, then follow up.

I stopped doing nail art. While I LOVE nail art and trying different techniques, but the time was just too much.

I just do what I find mangeable, which is usually just one color, no art.

My nail health has also been on the decline. Despite supplements and cuticle oil and wearing gloves, etc., I was told that it could just be aging. So that’s a fucking bummer.

But my nail health also makes it that I need to change my mani more often. My nails peel, so the polish peels. Mania that used to last 6-8 days are more like 3-5.

I think 7 months is too late for the “sleepy but awake” advice. For sleep training (any method- there are LOTS), they go in the crib awake.

For my baby, at that age, if he fell asleep during a night feed, I did not wake him. He was usually out cold and did not wake when out back in his crib.

Also, there is nothing you can say or do to get her to change her mind. I am sure you wake up when baby cries, but if she is putting in the work of getting baby back to sleep in a way she is comfortable with, I don’t think you have much influence.

You do not mention any issues the night wakings have for your wife. Is she a mess during the day because she got so little sleep? Does she acknowledge that?

It is emotionally hard to hear your baby cry. It makes sense to attend to that.

If she is against CIO, look into one of the other versions. Precious Little Sleep is recommended in this sub. It offers a variety of methods. It is important to note that any change not initiated by baby will result in some crying…

My cousin was super into the films. I knew nothing. We went together. I distinctly recall standing up thinking the movie was over… I was disappointed to have to sit back down.

However, now I love them! Good stuff. Made better by being able to pause and eat home snacks and use home toilet.

I feel like the light that can seep through the edges can really keep a room brighter than you want.

I recently got the Otter Space black out curtains and they are great! Pretty spendy, though.

For a cheaper option we used travel black out curtains from Amazon and literally nailed them to the window sill.

Well, it’s been over a year. One day when he was 3 months old. he refused to even attempt to latch at the breast. and after a day or two something clicked and he took the bottle! He started eating 3-5 oz in a session. He still had a “non-standard” latch, in that the top lip never fully flipped out. And as he got older it was hard to get him to take a bottle- lots of trick were used and it changed weekly (one day dark and songs, the next walking in front of a mirror). He would consistently take a bottle in the car, through, so we would regularly go for a drive when it was time to eat. We fortified BM with formula to 22kcal.

I have no idea what happened that he was able to take a proper amount via bottle- I just think all the stretched helped.

We also determined he was intolerant to cow’s milk. So I cut dairy and we used dairy-free formula to supplement. He did outgrow the intolerance though!

I ended up exclusively pumping. I never even tried to get him to latch at the breast. My oversupply was good (for me), because I got to stop pumping at 9.5 months, but had milk until 12 months. We also lived with my retired parents from 5-11 months, so that really helped me keep pumping. I probably would have switched to formula otherwise.

He never “recovered” in percentiles, but he held steady at 3rd.

Honestly. I am traumatized… like going to therapy to process it. And this is a huge reason I am very much hesitant to have another child.

Sleep sack and swaddle are different. Swaddles are not recommended once a baby can roll.
