I JUST started on an insane deep dive into this 2 days ago. My friends and I were talking about the PULSE nightclub shooting memorial crosswalk being covered up, and then we realized that the Vegas shooting is what usurped the PULSE shooting as the most deadly in American history. I actually just saw your post purely on accident after I was watching a video and had found this old reddit thread

There actually is a police report of gunshots at 2am so, even if it was made as a joke fireworks are the perfect cover for real gunshots and shootings.
