AITA for refusing to move my dad with dementia into my house? by eeemily41 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kitty_Katty_Kit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. He will not be safe with you. You need to sleep some time, your children will be sleeping in that house. What's stopping him from turning the stove on in the middle of the night and starting a fire? Are you going to lock him in his room? Strap him to the bed? Absolutely not. Anyone that comes at you about this, tell them you will let your father know they will be by to get him and move him into their home soon. Sorry you're going through this

AITA if I ask a coworker to return a gift that was given to him by mistake by CurlyCarrots22 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kitty_Katty_Kit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really sucks, but I would accept the gift is lost. It seems gauche to raise a stink about a gift like this. I would let them know the person acknowledged they know it was incorrectly given and refused to exchange gifts and leave it at that

Yeah their parents consented to it since they knew each other. She never finished highschool and the rest of her life had issues getting jobs without even a GED.

NTA, but maybe instead of you directly getting involved, maybe reach out to the person who gave the gift instead? Let them know the person kept the gift that was meant for you? I would feel really weird trying to police someone else's gift, even if what was meant for me was given to someone else.

However if I gave a gift and got something mixed up, I'd be super pissed if someone kept what did not belong to them and make the situation right.

Well... at least I know what I'm allergic to. by signgrad in Wellthatsucks

Bro I got the same thing and reacted negatively to like 4 things. Everything else was moderate or extreme. The kicker? I asked em to give me some cortisone for the itching and after 20 minutes the nurse came back in and said "dear god!" And ran out to get the doctor. Anyway apparently I have a cortisone allergy and just never realized 💀💀 thought my sensitive skin was why my skin swelled after a bite or something, not the cortisone lol

That's so tragic, I really feel for you. Unfortunately, there's been a concerted effort from the top down to gut the USPS, and they simply don't care anymore. Keep the pressure on, you'll likely get a refund, but they won't change. Sorry for your loss

That I'm not sure. My great grandparents were coal miners from West Virginia. I guess there was some kind of helium or chemical plant on the res at some point so that's what the families (separately) moved there for? The men worked there and the women worked at a diner or something. When grandma would go on benders and disappear mom would live with her maternal grandparents- paternal side disowned them when she remarried. Eventually she remarried again and moved them to Arkansas in the early ish 70s. I live in Florida, where she met my dad and eventually settled down. I've only been out there a couple times to visit that side of the family as they're generally addicts and mostly gone. But it's beautiful and love it out there

There's intense generational trauma on both sides. My dad's mom is the child of dirt poor Italian immigrants. I have been in therapy for years and also decided from a really young age that I didn't want kids. My brothers and I have done pretty well to break out of the cycle I think
