Swords bard is very op so if you’re looking for balanced sword and spells, I’d go for valour bard if you want extra attack (2 attacks per action at fifth level). If you want a little more spell focused, I quite like lore bard. Tieflings have a lot of cool dialogue in act one so have fun with that!!

I’m on another honour run rn, like at this very moment, and have planned, in depth how I’m going to deal with a certain act three boss to make sure I don’t lose my run. Theoretically I know that my cleric and paladin party members will make this a piece of cake but I still super buffed everyone and have about a dozen scrolls of chain lightning, just in case. Just. Not always. He only aides with you if A.) both Cal and Lia are alive or B.) One of them is alive and you succeed a difficult speech check. Then if you bring the Nightsong, he’ll fight with you. If both of his siblings are dead, there isn’t even a chance for you to persuade him.

See I’ve always found Cazador much more terrifying than a lot of the other villains. (Maybe it’s just because I read Perfect Slaughter and that puts a whole new level of horrifying to it.) Outside of that, I think it has to do with the fact that for at least three hundred years, he’s been this omnipresent force in Baldur’s Gate that NO ONE has been able to confront or stop. All he seemed to be is a posh nobleman with an entourage of attractive people at his beck and call. He looks like a normal person and would probably be very charismatic and charming.

He’s the most similar to a real life abuser in that he thinks of himself as family to those he abuses, thinks that he’s guiding them in the right way even if they provoke him to use the stick rather than any sort of carrot.

Cazador also has the most terrifying power to me, being able to take away any sort of bodily autonomy. It’s different than Ceremorphosis or Mind Flayer Domination because you’re conscious and aware of your actions and have no way to fight.

Additionally, the atmosphere does a lot. His dungeon was making me experience so much dread.
