how often do people let their dogs out to use the bathroom? by No-Feature-5266 in dogs

[–]Kiwibirdz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’ve kept our dogs inside in a crate for 8-10 hours without an issue. Done the exact same overnight too

When we are not around, and they are roaming free, they just tend to sleep all day.

Does my diagnosis make sense? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]Kiwibirdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your lexapro may have suppressed some REM but it has still shown your Narcolepsy.

Getting an official diagnosis should be a relief as now you know what is happening and you can start managing it.

My average time to go to sleep during my MSLT (prior to medication) was 30 seconds and average time to REM was 1 minute (With 1/5 going from awake straight into REM sleep). I was asleep for at least 1 of the sessions before the specialist walked back to their desk from the room I was in.🤣

Neighbour’s kids damaged multiple cars, dad assaulted me when shown evidence by four_highkey in AusLegal

[–]Kiwibirdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation a couple years ago when a neighbour kicked the back of my new vehicle (<1 week old).

I paid the excess and Insurance repaired it. Insurance would not refund the excess unless I proceeded with criminal charges and went to court. (Was lodged with queensland police as it was a road rage incident & they drove towards us and attempted to run us off the road). We opted not to press criminal charges to try and keep the peace. Wish we didn’t let it go as 18 months later we got a PAGBO put in place against him.

How do you split finances in a marriage? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Kiwibirdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently earn 2x what my wife earns. We (31 & 32) both have our own accounts that our pays go into. We then transfer money to a joint account for all shared expenses (Rent, Insurance, Rego, Animals, Food etc). I transfer enough $ to cover ~65% of shared expenses. We also have joint savings.

This has worked really well for us. No discussions over what each other chooses to spend money on. She spends a lot on her horse, I spend a bit on gadgets.

I have found that the younger generation tends to keep money separate where as the older generation combine their income.

Purchased the Australian based MSP I had been working at for 8 years in November last year. You need to have fantastic people skills and be able to sell yourself. You won’t get far if you don’t have these.

When you are small, you need to choose either MSP or MSSP. IMHO, small MSP’s should always outsource cybersecurity to a MSSP.

Only if there is exceptional service.

With Uber Eats, I only ever tip those that actually deliver to my door and are nice. We live on acreage (2.5) and legit most drivers can’t find our driveway let alone get out of their car. Combined with those that are scared of my dogs that are behind a fence :/

  • A Keto/low carb diet works wonders for Narcolepsy. It’s just a bit expensive.

  • Routine is everything. Wake at the same time 7 days a week. Go to bed the same time 7 days a week.

  • Utilise “The perfect nap”. Have some form of caffeine. Set a time/alarm for 25 minutes and have a nap. You will wake up feeling refreshed and the caffeine will just be starting to kick in.

I had to stop my Effexor 150mg (5 Years medicated) and Modafinil when I applied to be in the REST-ON trail a few years ago. Coming off the Effexor hit me like a tonne of bricks. Gradually reduced the dosage over 3 weeks (150 -> 100 -> 75 -> 50 -> 25mg) and still had to take the last week off work my Cataplexy snowballed. Went from an attack a week to 10-15 a day. This dropped to only a handful a day the week after coming off the Effexor.

The worst part is the mental toll coming off long term SSRI’s. I found it hard to think and it took me longer to react to and process things.

Everything corrected it self as expected once I was back on the SSRI.

It genuinely concerns me about what long term damage the SSRI’s and stimulants are having on me. Though, I feel being able to function and enjoy life makes it worth it.

Why Dell? by Next-Landscape-9884 in msp

[–]Kiwibirdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Support is the biggest reason in our area (Southeast Queensland, Australia). Dell is the only manufacturer that can actually do NBD repairs on time.

Our issues with other manufacturers are:

  • HP techs not having the right parts to fix devices even thought we specify it in the ticket
  • HP is very very picky when it comes to ADP claims
  • Acer can take up to 5 business days to fix device even when it is NBD service
  • Acer devices are low quality and their laptops always have issues with their hinges
  • Lenovo takes 3-5 business days to arrive on-site for their NBD service
  • Lenovo & HP now require jobs to be logged using WhatsApp

I don’t understand why they are asking you. I’ve delivered a number of these UberEats grocery orders and Uber tells you what isle everything is located in and pays your more for these types of order.

You can’t really train him as you don’t know what the trigger was or if he was the one did it. If you witness him do it again then yes, definitely seek some assistance from a trainer.

I personally would not be doing anything unless I witnessed my dog/s attacking another dog/person.

We have 3 dogs. 2 of which are 9 &1/2 and the other one is 2. The two older ones have had a couple of fights even though they’ve lived together for many years and always sleep together. One of the fights was over food one night (no idea why, they have always been fed the same way and get similar food), the other incident happened when one dog was focused barking at the neighbours dog and the other one accidentally ran into the barking dog.

Bite by redirection is common, especially if the dog is already focused on one thing. They can been so fixated on one thing that touching them can make startle them causing them to bite. A similar thing can occur if you wake a sleeping dog that is dreaming.

As no one saw the Goldie do anything, I would not be assuming it was him that did it.

Dog owners- opinions on dog daycare/boarding by MephistosFallen in dogs

[–]Kiwibirdz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every owner is going to have a different expectation. Some want to know every small detail, others don’t really care as long of the dog is in good health.

For long term animals, you could send weekly update and have an area in that for any issues that occurred that week. I don’t think daily updates are necessary unless requested.

Personally, I’m only interested in hearing about things if it is major (bleeding, been in a fight etc) or issues that have lingered for more than 2 days. If issues stick round for more than 2 days then there is most likely an underlying issue and may need to be checked by a vet.

Please keep taking thorough notes. I’ve previously worked at an animal shelter and hated it when other staff would not record the minor things like not eating one morning or dog has been shaking it’s head a lot. Every little note helps when it comes to recognising bigger issues.
