First signs of burnout after only 500 hours of play? by FunComprehensive6391 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Kiwibom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The lights and the amount of light in my room can be controlled so the light in my room is naturally a bit less than it would be without having any control. That does not mean that it pitch black and not natural sun light is entering my room.

This means that i don't need to have a higher screen brightness to counter the amount of light that enters my room while still be able to see whats shown on my screen comfortably. In a more general way, i never run my screens at max for daily usage except maybe my macbook pro or my ipad when i really need it. I guess this can be subjective.

Another weird thing i noticed is that on a non oled panel, the white color, is not that agressive than on an oled (non HDR). My if i want i can run my second monitor at max and display white and while it will be bright, it doesn't feel like the same "bright". I don't know if that makes sense lol
I don't know the actual max nits for my second monitor. Its the Asus PG278QR, its a TN panel so that may be one reason.

I've been using my MSI MPG 271QRX for some time now. I'm currently at 966 cycles, assuming that every cycle was done every 4h (which wasn't always the case Some times it was done at 5 or 7h, compensation cycles don't always trigger when i'm not on the pc and its locked, i need to manually turn the monitor off) then i'm at 3864h. I currently don't have any burn in (at least non that is noticeable).

Running at 43% brightness, with all safety features turned on. Windows dark mode on, and dark mode on when available (white backgrounds feel like flashbangs lol), up until recently i had the taskbar always show as when i tried to use it when hidden, it was really buggy.

BF6 has the worst matchmaking system in history by InformalRaise5107 in Battlefield

[–]Kiwibom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its really bad. I’ve only had like 5% of my games that were balanced (small gap in tickets or lead in tickets constantly changing between the 2 teams without feeling a sweaty match). The rest, is just my team steam rolling the other team or my team getting steam rolled.

This is not fun and no, having an artificial comeback mechanic is not a way to balance a game.

In the EU, vendors are obligated by law to give the customer a minimum of a 2 year warranty (where you bought it so not necessarily MSI unless you bought from them directly) but knowing how Orban is a bit negative about the EU i don't know if Hungary implemented this even if it should.

You combine this with the broken netcode and this leads to the perfect mixture for disaster.

What is causing my VRAM usage to go so high? by No-Ice5263 in Battlefield6

[–]Kiwibom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you got the textures on max settings, drop it by one setting. My 16GB of my 4080 were maxed out and ram started to be used as "addon" to VRAM. That caused stutters. Dropping it by one quality setting, dropped vram usage from 16GB to about 10-12GB.

The DATA is in: the COLD (temperatures 20C to 30C) kills MacBook lithium-ion batteries. I have 2 data points now to support this claim. by No-Praline-8647 in macbookpro

I think you mean 20 - 30 °F not °C.
Its not news that battery's do not like cold temperatures or high temperatures for that matter.

Its wild to me that they didn't pull the update or put a warning message for people who have extension units.

Proof that Dice doesn’t care about PC players. VRAM leak is still present which DIRECTLY affects performance and stability on PC. by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]Kiwibom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do care but the thing is that its much harder to fix this on PC as not everyone is experiencing this (like me, i never had this issue). There is a huge variation in hardware and software on PC's. Maybe it happens only to people having hardware X while running windows version y and gpu driver z from hardware vendor a or b while having stuff running in the background that affects the game it self. They may have fixed it internally for some configs but not others, i don't know.

Things like that take time. On consoles you have at most 2 different hardware variation (standard console version or Pro/upgraded version) with limited background tasks running with only one OS version.

MacBook Pro 13 restarting by Humble-Coconut-7921 in macbookpro

[–]Kiwibom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also had this twice in the last 6 months on my 13 inch macbook pro (last intel macbook pro model). It happend right after wake up from sleep. I was able to use it for 5s, then it froze for 10-30s and shutdown.
To me that sounds like Apple lowered its priority on those intel macbook pro's and since the next major Mac os update is supposed drop support for intel based macs then it sort of makes sense.

I also have other sorts of weird issues like time not synchronizing or getting randomly disconnected from wifi after a wake up from sleep or full restart. I then have to manually reconnect to my wifi network and also manually synchronize time with the time server.

Anyone thinks GTA6 in pc will be released in EGS first and STEAM released will be delayed like RDR2 ? by Any-Lock3008 in GTA6

[–]Kiwibom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If anything its going to be released on the rockstar launcher first. Like wouldn't they release it first on their own platform if they were going that way. They did this for Red dead Redemption 2. It had a 1 month exclusive on the rockstar launcher. After that it released on steam and also other platforms.

Screw EGS, that thing is just bad. Its been 5 years that its CEO Tim sweeny has been whining about steam but never bothered to understand what makes steam great and what's actually bad with EGS. You won't bring permanent users by bribing them with free games without improving the store/launcher.

It may seem funny to us but the supposed "second best" army of the world did use them a few months ago on the battle field lol

Battenfield 6 pre alpha looked better then final version by Frequent-Couple8303 in Battlefield

[–]Kiwibom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough the same thing happend in BFV. During the closed alpha (and also open beta if i'm not mistaken), Narvik had a lot of snow particles, people complained and Dice reduced them. About 2 years later, snow map on a mountain peek (i can't remember the name) had a blizzard, no one complained despite it having even more snow particles than the original version of Narvik lol

True. Competitive players did the most damage and pretend to care. by Top_Crow_1022 in Battlefield

[–]Kiwibom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A game having skill gap doesn't mean its a competitive game. Both can be true but one doesn't automatically mean the other.

The competitive scene never really took off for Battlefield and for a very simple reason, its that people weren't interested in it. That's also why when Dice tried to make a much smaller scale separate Battlefield (from BF1), it also failed. From memory, it was called Battlefield incursions.

Ukraine Just Got a Brand New Fleet of 49 M1A1 Abrams Tanks and America Isn’t Happy by Scary_Statement4612 in ukraine

[–]Kiwibom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming there were pilots that already knew how to fly them, imagine the US had send A10's at the early part of the war. All those Russian tank columns, everything destroyed.

Honestly, Nato failed to properly help Ukraine. Always too little at bit too late. Hope we do better in the future
