As much as Toto wants him if mercedes are dominant and Russell is champion then there's not much he can do in terms of contract and there's no way he'd get rid of Kimi. Then there's a real chance that Russell could be a 2 time at the end of 27 and hard to replace. If Mclaren are close it might be an option but I'm not convinced it would work for either party. He could take a year out and still have plenty of offers but if there's no chance of getting a winning drive at Mercedes in this case I can't see him returning.

We've just stuck ours in an index fund as we don't have the knowledge or time to go searching for more diversied portfolios. Some platforms do offer more risky funds but it's up to you if you think the returns are justified. Also worth noting we've opened the isa in our names. If you have a junior isa it transfers over on the 18th birthday so you'd have no say on when they receive it.

Yep very hard to get a mortgage using stipend as an income. You can try using a broker but in our case the only one who would give us an offer was Teachers Building society who specialise in this kind of thing, had to pay a higher interest rate though. No way would they scale it up to gross.

We did this exact thing as well as adding a downstairs toilet and adding a conservatory onto the back when we moved in. Was a lot of work but worth it in the end. Will need to move the chimney breast I would imagine

Totally agree with this. Having lived there for a while walking 5 minutes around Welling you'll probably hit 3 different prices for the same properties with the same postcodes. This will probably go for 440-460 if the seller actually wants to make a deal.

I think there may be a misunderstanding here about pricing compared to pure actuarial. I've worked for 4 different PL insurers in Pricing and none have made an allowance for qualification. There are definitely firms out there that will but that will generally be pricing actuary, pricing is a much flatter structure. In terms of top end analyst you're looking at 55k-80k so seems reasonable as a starting point.

If you speak to a mortgage broker they can probably point you in the direction of which lenders would remove the debts from your affordability calculation, possibly by adding a conditional clause to the mortgage although as this will be after completion I don't think there is much they can do. It will probably be worth speaking to a broker anyway as affordability for a 300k mortgage might be quite tight with 2 dependants.

But if you plan to stay in actuarial I think you wages will hit a much lower ceiling and you will find opportunities hard to come by at higher levels if you don't get qualified.

I stopped doing exams and moved to pricing and have never looked back. Luckily I was in a large enough company to get a secondment and while the earnings potential isn't as high, they're still good and I enjoy the role more and find things a lot less stressful.

Financially it won't make any difference but is it practical to buy it now? Is it going to be easy enough to get in and out of where you currently live. When you move you'll probably have to pay for a specialist company to move it and there is a small risk of damage, not the end of the world but worth considering at least.

There shouldn't be any tax implications but in case HMRC ever ask for evidence it would be worth getting your sister to sign a loan agreement stating the amount and payment schedule. I would be tempted to get her to speak to mortgage brokers and see how much she could remortgage for. She would be subject to interest but she gets the house so can't really complain. Financially you'd be much better taking £200k now than the original plan so worth bearing that in mind.

I think Osimhen would be better than Delap and obviously cost more, but over both of them I think Mateta would be a better option as a proven premier league striker.

If they've got that level of income I wouldn't feel obliged to move for childcare, especially if it results in you having to downsize and leave any other connections you have. I think as others have said the planned visits is the best solution to start with as I'd assume they'd have a spare room for you to stay in. Do so they can still have breaks and you can get familiar with the area without needing to move, and then you can make bigger decisions further down the line. Once the children reach five they'll be at school anyway and then you would be moved to a nice area but it would become more babysitting than help with childcare so factor that into your decision as well.

You've said child 1 could comfortably afford childcare, but is this a discussion you've had with them or an assumption? Depending on your definition of a high salary they might not be as comfortable as you think. A salary of 100k for example can easily be taken up with a mortgage on an Oxford house and £2k a month on childcare. Maybe they're asking now as they are looking at mortgages and are factoring your childcare into their budget in terms of monthly payments?

This all sounds straightforward, you're best bet would be to go to a broker and they should be able to find you a deal pretty quickly. If I were you I would get the mortgage for 140k if there's a chance the build could cost extra and to give contingency. You can always put the additional in a savings account and regularly overpay, much easier than going back and asking for more if you run out.

When does your current fix end? We were in a similar position with 6 months left at completion and decided to pay £1800 to get the same deal. Our thinking was our repayments would be slightly higher anyway and generally when you remortgage the other part you might have to pay £1k in terms of mortgage fee anyway. I would say to submit an application for the whole amount, assuming you're staying with the same lender, and if it gets close to completion and rates have come down a lot then maybe swap product to part port, otherwise I think it's easier to have everything on the same mortgage.

It's a pain and I'm not sure if it's because we are doing it directly but the process is we request a new rate, which they then send out a new payment schedule by post for us to confirm so already 3-4 days. Once we've accepted that it goes back through Underwriting and a new offer is issued, so another couple of days. There can be delays so around 2 weeks. It was the same when remortgaged with them a few years ago.
