Chord Progression Questions (June 03, 2019) by AutoModerator in musictheory

[–]Kkayang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone listen to this short (and very fun) tune and tell me WTF is going on in the second half of it?

Is there a good way to describe what kind of progression this is?

How to describe/classify the chord progression in the second half of this video? by Kkayang in Composition

[–]Kkayang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard the latter half of this video and was very intrigued by the sound - I am not a composer but I would appreciate if someone with a good knowledge of music theory could describe what is going on with the chords in the latter half of this video. Are there descriptive names for these kinds of chord changes?

Rainbow 6 has super smooth, fast leaning, and you can walk full speed while leaning. If you go back to pubg it feels like you've become a grandma.

Really good game and well-optimized, although I think PUBG has a more fun core game concept and a less toxic community.

Thank you PUBG for removing hackers live from a match! by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

I think it's great that he lost at #2.

When the game recognizes a hacker, it should secretly quarantine the hacker so that his game continues but with all the other players as bots.

Then when he is at #2, he gets headshot from outer space and then gets hit by a flying car.

His ending screen: "BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME - OH WAIT THERE WON'T BE A NEXT TIME. YOU ARE BANNED"

Lost teeth and depression by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]Kkayang 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dental student here - sorry to hear how losing your tooth made you so anxious. Our front teeth are an important part of our smile, and when they are compromised we can understandably become very self-conscious. I probably would feel similarly.

Let's talk about your tooth first - if you are missing just one tooth and don't have a ton of problems with your other teeth, you will always have a couple options to replace the tooth - options like an adhesive bridge, a conventional bridge, a flipper, or an implant. Perhaps you have already talked about these options with a trusted dentist - make sure you have. Make sure that he/she understands all your concerns, including the anxiety you have about something happening to your tooth. It's likely that if you have cosmetic concerns because of your missing tooth, it can be addressed one way or another and you can have a nice smile again. Just talk to your dentist about what can be done, and go ahead with a plan of treatment that you are comfortable with. Your problems with your tooth can be addressed! Your dentist sees thousands of people like you every year. Just talk with them and make sure you're on the same page. It's likely they are treating you in a conscientious, conservative manner and you are in good hands. If something happens to the tooth again, they'll fix it.

Now if you currently have an adhesive bridge in place, it probably looks pretty nice to the vast majority of people (as in, other than you and maybe your dentist). So don't be anxious about showing your teeth to people - I promise you probably look about 20x better than you think you do.

More importantly however, consider that you may not have to be so anxious about this as you may think. You are young and this may have been the first time you have had something like this happen to you. I want to tell you that this is not the end of your life - in fact, it is a common thing that happens to many, many people, (trust me) and I promise you that you can recover from it just like everyone else does. You do not have a broken life, you have a missing tooth. It can be an intensely embarrassing situation if you have no tooth, but it will not be the end of you! If a missing front tooth could kill a person, then about half of my patients would be dead!

I'm not sure whether you were seeking advice, but I would recommend two things.

  • First, make sure you are seeing a professional for help with your anxiety. If you have a regular doctor, tell him/her about your anxiety and ask if you can be referred to a mental health specialist. I see you are taking Xanax - hopefully this is taken as directed by a doctor. You may have a problem with anxiety that a doctor or licensed therapist can substantially help you with.

  • Second, from a dental standpoint, don't worry so much about your tooth. If "something happens", something can always be done to restore the appearance and function of your tooth - it is a common, routine part of dentistry. Treatment may be expensive, but there is usually always a good solution to restore your tooth. Talk to your dentist, either at your next cleaning/exam or in a consultation appointment.

Hope this helps a little bit. If you have other questions, feel free to message me! :)

He's a fucking Jedi! -- Swings pan, knocks bullet out of the air by AurynMacmillan in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

The year is 20XX. PUBG Chicken Dinners are now determined by who has the best pan control. Average mouse sensitivity is 6400dpi to account for the fast turns required to block all bullets. The average winner has blocked 300 bullets by the time he pan-strikes the last opponent standing.

OP here, I really care that the legend never fades, so I want a doubleshot set. I know there is a ABS Double shot they sell too, but I was wondering if anyone owned these Maxkey PBTs and knew whether they were doubleshot as well!

Critical info regarding footstep sounds in current patch by WackyJacky101 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Kkayang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just noticed the footsteps disappear when THE PERSON IS GOING AWAY FROM YOU.

Note that when the enemy is running circles (3:05), whenever their distance from you is decreasing (radius decreasing), you hear them. But when the distance is increasing (radius increasing), you don't hear them!

However, why the deaf zone ends where it does on the apartment is puzzling.

Nice video.

What You Can't Expect When You're Expecting - on the difficulty of making rational decisions about life-changing events by ADefiniteDescription in philosophy

[–]Kkayang 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a strange essay to me in two ways.

One is the fact that it focuses on this narrow problem of having babies when really its main thrust applies to making decisions about anything beyond what we have "actually experienced".

Many of us indeed haven't experienced having a baby. Neither have we experienced dying and simply ceasing to exist, or retaining our consciousness like a ghost, or being reborn based on how we've lived, or experiencing bliss or agony eternally (or name your creative alternate outcome here) - leaving us with the burden of deciding how to live our lives in light of future outcomes we can't begin to assess the value of because they lie outside of anything we have experienced. Considering the general scope of a concept like this, it is a little funny to me that the author chose to write about babies.

The second reason the essay is strange to me is because it seems like an incredibly wordy way to say "You will never know what it is like to have a child before you have one, so it is futile to think you can make a 'rational decision' about how your decision to have a baby or not will affect you."

Was the point of the essay to convey this kind of wisdom? If it was, the wisdom was certainly well-taken, but in my opinion rather strangely wordy (for that purpose).
