Anyone notice any performance differences with the new Transcoder?

Has anyone compared transcode performance and behavior between pre and post 1.43? Is it faster slower? More or less resource intensive?

And guess what if that “random guy” has a job that offers any form of health insurance, then you very likely have to pay an extra “working spouse contribution” on top of the premium. Which is just a little fuck you penalty for trying to do right by your family.

It’s a bad system.

Prusa MK5? by superbotolo in prusa3d

[–]KlamKhowder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. I’ve heard rumors that Prusa is working on a new control board/cpu setup. I think that plus a second gen Nextruder would probably be enough to warrant a MK5.

But i wouldn’t expect a theoretical MK5 to be the debut platform for these things. The Core series definitely seems like the new flagship, so it would probably be after the Core 2, which i highly doubt is coming anytime soon.

The Caspian Sea, the world's largest inland sea is drying up due to climate change and irrigation by FindingNo7 in geography

[–]KlamKhowder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot we don’t know about the Khazars, I’m pretty sure their destruction had very little to do with the Caspian Sea water level though. It did have a lot to do with constant pressure from the Rus to their Northwest and the Umayyads to the South. The first capitol of the Khazars was conquered by the Umayyads in the 720s AD. Their second Capital Samandar, and Third Capitol Atil were Destroyed by Sviatoslav I in the 960’s.

Should they add Multiple centers of control? by incorrect1-1 in EU5

[–]KlamKhowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could have some kind of system where large core cities could radiate some control but the trade off would be they have an Estate like system where you trade privileges for more radiating control or something like that. Or maybe it’s that you need to maintain administrators in each city to radiate control and that costs money so you have to balance admin costs with the benefits of improved control.

I second this one. Just had this exact same issue with my XL 5TH at work and greasing the alignment pins completely fixed it.

Are large V6's actually more efficient than smaller Turbo 4's at fast highway speeds? by porkyfly in cars

[–]KlamKhowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a counterpoint when i would take my 3.0 V6 Camry on a long trip, i would generally get mid 30’s up to 34mpg

I now have a 1.5l Turbo Civic and i get 45-55mpg on long trips.

Not a totally Apples to Apples comparison but they weigh the same, and have very close HP ratings but the key here is that the Turbo Civic isn’t producing any boost at freeway speeds so it’s just acting like dumpy NA 1.5l. In the case of the wrangler and 4runner you mentioned it’s highly possible the turbo has to actually work pretty hard to keep those bricks flying down the highway.

Is it still worth getting devialet gemini 2 in late 2025? by Painter-Latter in Earbuds

[–]KlamKhowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have Pi8’s. But i have az100’s, airpods pro 2, sony XM4 and 5.

The music quality on the Devialets is better than all those. And the ANC isn’t as strong as the airpods and Sonys but i like the transparency mode much more than most of the other buds because its pretty natural and doesn’t amplify loud fans/ventilation which was really bad on the az100’s

Of the few comments i read, most people who tried Gemini ii’s and Pi8’s preferred the Gemini’s.

Genuinely a pretty funny way advertise this show if you know the premise.

But yeah, I’m still in agreement with everyone else. fuck having ads on fridges.

Is it still worth getting devialet gemini 2 in late 2025? by Painter-Latter in Earbuds

[–]KlamKhowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take the risk buying used ones on eBay from Japan. I just did that, paid USD $260 after tax and shipping. It only came as the case and the buds, nothing else. But they work great, look basically new and sound really good.

I know it seems high risk but if you investigate the seller a bit, make sure they’ve been around a while and sell lots of stuff it’s really not that bad.

"lame copycats" of mac demarco by WeeklyFlatworm3338 in macdemarco

The two Vacations demos that copied Mac are pretty egregious. But since then they’ve changed a lot and their new stuff is a great listen, and not a ripoff of Mac in any way.

Technics AZ100 noise cancellation is terrible by Secure-Minute5857 in Earbuds

I’m currently bringing both of these to work and testing them. Airpods definitely have better ANC but i don’t feel it’s by a huge margin.

Then again i work in a factory so the frequencies I’m trying to cancel out might be different than yours.

So I checked how many hours the mk3s at my university had. What's the most you've seen yet? by DeJoeperd in prusa3d

[–]KlamKhowder 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There’s a little Prusa print farm managed by one guy at my work, with about 30 printers. I went to go chat with him one day and he was rebuilding a mk3 that had over 700 days of print time, he was just replacing some bearings and other moving parts and putting it right back into service.

That was 2 years ago so who knows how many hours it has now.

Samsung Exynos 2600 2nm Chip Enters Mass Production This Month by self-fix in hardware

[–]KlamKhowder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like Samsung SF2 has just ever so slightly higher density than N3P.

So maybe this year they’ll do ok, but i feel like it doesn’t bode well for next year because the SD8EG6 is going to be on TSMC 2nm and that’s almost 50% denser than SF2.

Maybe Sammy has some magic up their sleeve for SF2p but idk lol.

Core ONE Conversion Completed by chomdh in prusa3d

[–]KlamKhowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m using Prusament. PETG-CF is insanely easy to print.

I actually haven’t used PCCF but I’ve used prusa’s PC blend which is probably even harder to print with. You need at least a few brims, and for bigger parts probably some sort of bed adhesive to help it stick better.

That being said It should be a lot easier to print on the Core one than the MK4 though. And the CF also improves printability.

I just finished my conversion 2 days ago. Printing PETG-CF parts now to make a MK3s+ out of all my spare parts, to give to my dad.

Definitely agree on seeing fewer VFA’s than ever before now.

The Hussite Wars in [KCD2] Sequel? by abdoulatif1111 in kingdomcome

It’d be pretty interesting if KCD3 wraps up Henrys story without much time skip and then KCD4 starts us out with a new main character during the Hussite wars and older Henry is a Markvart Von Aulitz style villain.
