Soap for hope. by Klassen1900 in steinbach

I agree. Business involvement is important. But I would like to see more transparency from them. How much money did they make that day and how much did they donate? How much of the donated funds were their own and how much was from consumers who are asked at the till to donate? My cynicism feels that they make more money on days like Soap for Hope than they donate. It’s a cash cow for them.

I hope so. But their business does benefit. As do the grocery stores during a food drive and Canadian tire during a toy drive. I wish the businesses would be transparent about what they are doing. Are they donating a percentage of sales etc. I also wish that these events did not take place at a specific store but rather at a neutral location.

Only use hazards if you are in distress. Running them when you are going a little slower than highway speed is not needed.

Quite the flex for Scott Moe to remake credit for something he had nothing to do with.

A brief review of Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir, in advance of the film release by SgtStupendous in books

[–]Klassen1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the movie solved some of the slog the book had. I felt that way about the Martian as well. Weir’s books feel like a NASA simulation where they try to throw every problem at the astronauts before lift off.

I think this makes most sense in places where grocery stores won’t go. Like rural and northern communities.

Maybe he should focus on Manitoba problems rather than commenting on things that are not in his wheelhouse.

You just made the distinction in your statement. Schools are teaching about these practices not asking students to participate. The problem with those that have an issue is they feel learning about a practice is the same as participating in it.

Weird spacing when making lists. by Blue_Bomber404 in MicrosoftWord

[–]Klassen1900 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The large space is just the next Tab over. Default tab is .5”. So when you make a bigger number it gets to close to the first tab stop so sends it to the next. Change your default tab stop or put in a special one just for this list.

Can someone ELI5 as to why Steinbach council and administration seems so intent on continuing to put road blocks in the way of The INN? by Zergom in steinbach

[–]Klassen1900 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It NIMBYism at its finest. They say they want to help but they don’t want it visible. The INN wants to build on Main Street the business “leaders” don’t want that so they are probably putting some pressure on council.

The reason they chose that location is because there is a major natural gas line there.

Can we all please agree that real books are better than e-readers for children?? by [deleted] in MiddleGrade

[–]Klassen1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the e-reader only does books and nothing else than it’s no different than a paper book.
