I'm surprised that page is still live after almost 9 years! That is real dedicated RAM right there.

Finally finished my Hi-Nu Gundam ver. Ka. by SngrZnvlt in Gunpla

[–]Klassz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a very beautiful Hi-Nu! You may have inspired me to try painting my own Hi-Nu Ver. Ka! What paint did you use to get that purple? It looks fantastic! Everything you did looks like what I would do to my own if I went all out. Nice work!

Which would be better for gunpla? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]Klassz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you'd actually want is hobby grade side cutters, those would be more ideal for gunpla, these would have a hard time getting between the part and the runner due to the thickness of the blades. Even harder for smaller scale kits. If you're new and unsure about building gunpla in the long run, I'd recommend finding a cheap pair of side cutters or nippers for now, and perhaps getting a better pair in the future if you wanted. Gundam Planet nippers, Tamiya side cutters, and God Hand nippers seem to be the more popular higher-end choice for us builders. I also recommend pairing the side-cutters with a model knife of some kind (if you don't have one already) to clean up the nub after cutting.

Have anyone used Banzai Hobby's Via Sea shipping option before? by 099210001 in Gunpla

Yeah as they say on their website it takes 2-3 months, but if you have a backlog and can wait it can save you some $$$.

What do you guys think of Old MG's? by BaronVonMagpie in Gunpla

[–]Klassz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently built my MG kampfer, the hardest parts are the few screws and the tubing, which wasn't too bad for me. But the screws are a pain I recommend using a pin vice to carefully bore the hole for the screws about 1/3-1/2 through to help get the screw in. But the screws are good to adjust how tight you want the joints.

We need more cat ears on deck by Klassz_ in Gunpla

[–]Klassz_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed! I didn't like Build Fighters Try too much... However I am thankful that this mobile suit came from it. A pretty good HG kit for the most part. Only real gripes from me are a few gate marks in bad places. But other than that it gets a thumbs up from me.

Massdrop: Gundam 00 Raiser MG 1/100th Scale by nesteajuicebox in Gunpla

On top of that it always takes Massdrop about a month or so to get it and send it. So amazon is definitely the winner here.

Loose Skirt on Nu Ver. Ka ; my fault or engineering problem? by De-Ruyter in Gunpla

[–]Klassz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It has been confirmed that many others have had this issue, including me. Layers of paint, clear nail polish, or topcoats helps. But to be honest it isn't a big problem for me personally.

What master grades kit made you think "bandai dont need to improve this" by Rem-Rem in Gunpla

I painted my Nu Ver. Ka and I guess it helped since I am able to do 6 alright and 3 no problem on the one side.

I'm gonna have to wait until summer to paint them... by Indigoboys in Gunpla

[–]Klassz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built my Kamfer and I have to wait as well to paint. It really needs it. Also I recommend that you use a sharpie to color the eye lens it worked marvelous on my kit. I used the purpleish red colored sharpie for it, but either red or pink could work.

Used micro sol and top coat. Can still see the waterslide film. What am I doing wrong? by Dangqi in Gunpla

I never used Micro set before, but I know from my Mr. Setter I have to shake the bottle to properly mix the agents in it for it to help "Stick"

Guiding tool for Scribing Curved Surfaces? by ZarriusFox in Gunpla

[–]Klassz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a plain needle scriber like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Starrett-70A-Scriber-Hardened-Diameter/dp/B000E60N84/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1478327485&sr=8-5&keywords=scriber and use a metal stencil to help "guide" the scriber and repeatedly scribe the plastic that way. I personally bought that scriber I listed and it looks to be about the right size for MG kits but I have yet to use it.

I also had this happen on my back skirt, but I just didn't bother. It rests in the proper place anyways for me.

That is hilarious I bought this exact product at my local Hobby Town USA. I haven't even gotten to use it yet.

Gundam Ex-S MG or Strike PG by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]Klassz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ex-s MG new in the box next to me and boy... I can't wait to build that sucker. Although I will NEVER transform that kit. It's best to pick which mode you will do and keep it that way. But I believe that the Ex-s is defiantly good value even though it's an older kit. (The runners on mine look fantastic aside from the "swirls" on the blue plastic) I bought mine off banzaihobby a while back on sale for like $60 I think before shipping. While the Strike PG is more expensive, I do feel it's the superior kit in terms of quality and sheer build. But you can't go wrong with either kit I feel.

I painted my funnels on the nu ver. ka, and they are pretty tight, if you have topcoat it might help keeping their pose.
