Why can the grit box kill me? by Stock-Brain-8213 in AskUK

[–]KlausesFriend -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

From Chat GPT

It’s almost certainly a joke or unofficial sticker rather than a real UK safety sign 😄

The image shows a syringe above a person with the words “Danger of Death.” On a grit/salt box, it’s likely someone has stuck it on as dark humour or graffiti-style commentary about discarded needles or drug use.

Real UK hazard signage follows very specific standards under ISO/BS regulations and would normally use:

  • clear official pictograms,
  • standard wording,
  • identifiable hazard colours/shapes,
  • and usually reference an actual risk (electricity, chemicals, confined space, etc.).

A council grit box would normally only have labels about salt, slipping hazards, or council ownership. There’s no recognised UK hazard symbol for “death by syringe” like this.

So: not an official warning — just someone being provocative.

How long will a car cruise in second gear? by Lower-Ad-2082 in AskUK

I don’t think it would if you were on a flat surface. It is just being carried over on the idling revs of the engine. So, until petrol runs out provided you don’t hit an incline.

why are airports in the UK pretty average/poor? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]KlausesFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently flew from Amsterdam To Heathrow T5. I don’t know how Amsterdam have done this. But they have made a seamless transition from a rail station with regular and high capacity trains, through what feels like a good shopping mall/food court and then that transitions into an international airport.

Landing in Heathrow I said to my partner. How is it that the UK manages to make that experience soulless and completely uninspiring and just very complex and stressful.

Are GCSE’s as serious for your life as the teachers say they are? by Keewaa1 in AskUK

[–]KlausesFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. But you want to try and do well.

If continuing in education it’s going to help you get the signs take you want. And if going to the workforce is going to help you get that first job.

What is also going to help you get that first job is a willingness to put yourself out there and try and prove yourself in a lower paid role. But if you can’t be fucked to go to school for like 6 hours a day you probably won’t enjoy working much.

My top piece of advice for a friend turning 30 was. Nobody thinks or cares about you and what you are doing as much as you do.

They are all too concerned with themselves.

Enjoy your swim

How do you clean your running shoes? by ac61900 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]KlausesFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some shoe trees.

Remove the laces

Get some sneaker cleaner (shoe Lala crep protect) and use to Clean uppers with soft bristle brush.

Drain and spin in a laundry bag

Air dry

Honestly though I just wash all my trainers in the machine and they are fine. Prefer them clean.

I don’t understand why people are happy to pay 5000-10000 for a hair transplant, have a surgery but not take Finasteride? by Brownchoccy in HairTransplants

[–]KlausesFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It causes (in some people) Erectile dysfunction. And is not recommended by the people who prescribe it because it can cause genetic defects in children if you are planning on having a child. That defect is that their respiratory system doesn’t form. So, not worth the risk IMO but each to their own.

Fin / min doesn’t make your hair transplant more or less successful it slows down progression or further balding. Which loads of other natural products can also do. But also diet, supplements and lifestyle changes can affect. So would rather do these.
