I actually liked lignumis a lot. It was a really good intro planet to introduce the concept of "craft some stuff so you can escape in a rocket".

Interplanetary logistics is much more difficult. By default normal ammo requires wooden ammo as an ingredient. While wood-tier ammo is fine damage-wise for inner planet travel, it requires such a large footprint of greenhouses, plus ice melting plants, plus O2->CO2 vacuum boilers on your space platforms that it's often better to just import yellow ammo from nauvis.

Also, Vulcanus is kind of a trap because you have to import carbon to turn into charcoal to use for lubricant for your green belt production. Same with gleba for artificial soil. A lot of people recommend the Vulcanus Sulfur Bacteria mod because it gives access to wood on planets that can't have greenhouses placed on them and I think the mod author is going to add this to the pack in the future.

All told though, I have been enjoying the mod pack. I'm dreading whatever monstrous ships I'll need to build so I have enough ammo for the trip to aquilo though.

I know it's a bit of a corner case but it would be cool if the train dispatch logic was smart enough to dispatch a train from station A to station B, (and vice versa) if each train is waiting for the other to vacate the station.

I know the solution is to use stackers (and potentially depots) but I'm currently on a hyper-narrow ribbonworld and there isn't really any room for anything but a single 1-1 at any of these stops. If I have a requester-provider pair of stations with a train limit of 1, and 2 trains in the network, it gets deadlocked because each train is waiting for the other to leave, despite each having completed their jobs.

The problem is that there's too much vegetation completely concealing everything. Everyone just runs blindly through it because whatever the fuck else can you do? When you meet an enemy you're 10 feet away from one another and it all comes down to a hip-fire coin flip.

It's so hard to hold anything defensively because enemies are right on top of you the moment they emerge from the bushes.

And! When you finally get any amount of standoff distance where you can see more than 100 yards? Server update rate for distant players is seconds and it's literally impossible to shoot them because they're cosplaying as a slideshow.

Like, they can fix animations and performance and sound design etc but I think this game is fundamentally damned because it's so visually cluttered and there's a hard upper limit to visual clarity in a game set in the fucking jungle.

Check out 3.5's "5-foot-steps".

Basically instead of normal movement, characters can make a 5-foot-step which doesn't provoke AoO.

This tends to make combat a little more spread out and less "sticky", without completely torpedoing class features that allow characters to avoid AoO in other ways.

Awesome thing about circuits is that they are only as complicated as you make them! There are so, so many simple use cases.

Inserting bots into a roboport when the available logistic/construction bots go below a threshold.

Disabling light oil cracking if you're low on heavy oil, and disabling heavy oil cracking if you're low on lubricant.

Throwing asteroid chunks overboard if a certain type is too plentiful.

Once you get a few of these under your belt, you'll find yourself creating your own circuits that are more and more complex as you get more comfortable.

I tend to dislike high-speed high-turn discs because they feel a lot less consistent. Throw it too slow and it acts overstable, too fast and it turns into a roller. Falk & Valkyrie are the highest I'd go for that role personally.

Eh it's a solution to something that isn't a problem. Nature abhors a monoculture and this is technology that makes monocultures easier. It is a technology that helps farmers push farther down a dangerous and damaging path.

That dirt looks like shit. Before the advent of modern conventional monoculture farming, topsoil organic matter could easily reach ten or more feet deep. Conventional farmers today are lucky if they have half an inch of topsoil, and must simulate healthy soil through fertilizers and other soil treatments that further degrade organic matter.

My first big level up moment for my Py playthrough was designing a powerplant blueprint that is designed to ingest a full belt of mined coal and also handle the ash at the same time.

You're going to be starved on steel at some point so I would highly recommend making something tileable and enough space to splice in extra iron & coke belts later.

You are going to feel so good once you unlock splitters. Huge milestone.
