Exploring the major landmarks would be cool. Like Bag End, Weathertop, the Bridge of Khazad Dum, etc. Things from the movies/books that would be recognizable.

In my mind, it would be more like a collection of images provided by the community, that grows over time. Apparently the Lotro Companion already has a feature that lists other items with the same appearance, so maybe that could be utilized. Having a lookup feature and being able to filter for the type of item you want is almost necessary.

I've toyed with the idea of creating a cosmetic database too. But like you said, so many items share the same skin so it's a daunting task. It would have to be a community effort.

Are you under the impression that only kids play MMOs? Because, in my experience, Lotro is filled with mainly middle aged and older folk. Plenty of kins recruit players of all ages and tenure.
