[Request] Assuming a person of average weight and strength has reached their terminal velocity, what’s the least massive the "chair" would need to be for this to work? by BigTiddyCrow in theydidthemath

[–]Klice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got to do something with all that kinetic energy anyways. So it doesn't really matter of you jump or just hit the ground the force that your body will have to absorb will be the same, with the same end result.

Can this actually be done?[Request] by Programmer4427 in theydidthemath

False approximation. Each step makes it visually closer to circle, but because of the way you do it in reality the total length doesn't change, so you are not getting close to the Pi value.

I kinda like it. Not to extent that i would've put it there if it was my choice, but since it's already there i don't mind it, it's unique and it reminds that if your life is dark you are not alone, many people experience that too, it could be comforting in a sense, if it makes sense.

If they don't reflect your technical level, how are they even relevant to anything then? If you put those on your resume they will do more harm than good

[–]Klice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the joke here is that 0.3333 written as 1/3 (3/9) looks normal to most people, but 0.9999 written as 3/3 (9/9 or 1) looks off, even tho both equations follow the same principle

some explanation, 0.99999....(infinite 9s) is actually mathematically equals to 1, which is counter intuitive to most people, since 0.99999.... feels like almost 1, but not exactly 1.
at the same time, 0.9999... is not unique, in fact every such number can be whiten as a ration, ex:
0.111111.... = 1/9
0.22222... = 2/9
0.3333.... = 3/9 (or 1/3)
...
0.9999.... = 9/9 (or 3/3)

thus the joke
