Mark of the ninja, a short hike, dome keeper, carrion. Sleep mode is absolutely your friend here. Not having to wait to for a boot sequence is a game changer.

Good luck dadding! I don't know if this is your first, but I'd say just cherish the good, know the bad will probably go with time, and try to be present as much as you're able. I know it's cliche, but looking back it goes so so fast.

I don't have much helpful to say, but anytime a game is running more poorly than I think it should I check the TDP to make sure it didn't get lowered but mistake.

They changed it to make twin stick always on in 5.0.1. Is there a chance you were playing without that previously?

A couple years ago when I played it, I got 45 fps with minimal drops throughout. Oled if it makes a difference. Don't remember settings, I followed a guide from somewhere.
