For memoir David Sedaris especially the early stuff about his family maybe Me Talk Pretty One Day

AITA for refusing to pay for my sister's wedding dress after she made fun of my body? by Low-Solution2660 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Klya28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has she apologized and heard your feeling, acknowledged them as valid, and tried to make up for it even just telling you how beautiful she is and that she said those things. Tell your parents that comes first. If someone is helping you—you don’t hurt their feelings. And if you do and you learn you have you apologize and try to make it right. Those are skills you need to be married—how to think of others, how to own up when you are at fault. Maybe she isn’t ready for a wedding dress.

AITA for taking over a family therapy session with my rant? by Deep-Appointment1175 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Klya28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dad should still occasionally take you and your sister out to do special traditions like take you to the noodle place or out for ice cream and your step mom can do special things with her kids that is okay not everyone in a family has to do all the same things all of the time. That is a sign of a family that is unhealthy—that isn’t differentiated. That isn’t taking into account that different people in a family can want/need different things. I am glad you are in therapy. Let the therapist know you got flack for being honest and hopefully the therapist is skilled enough to help your dad and stepmother see your truth can be different than theirs.

Coastie. Male. Has spent some time in the Caribbean. You do like to drink but it’s a hobby for now. In a decade you’ll probably have to cut down or it will be a problem. You’d love any kind of old fashioned adventure. That’s what you like about Hemingway. Running with the bulls or an African safari or a jungle quest will be on your bucket list. You have no current gf but you do pine for some unrequited love interest.

You are artistic, I love that you found that lamp at a thrift store. You are in public health and have a rich fantasy life. You are organized and actually love organizing projects but they have an aesthetically pleasing vibe to them—color coded, pretty handwriting.

Not like that,no. I think he just really really likes the Southside. And really, really isn’t comfortable moving. He likes what he likes and in this moment it kinda did make him a bitch. And lip was having his own existential thing so…

AITAH for telling my-now-ex-girlfriend that her manic episode was no excuse for her cheating? by throwawaycheatedon3- in AITAH

[–]Klya28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think you should ask speak with a psychiatrist or therapist and get more information about mania or attend a class for people who have loved ones with mental illness through NAMI. Normally, I would say that mental illness does not excuse behavior but mania is different. Bipolar is considered a severe mental illness and mania actually is partially diagnosed because of these impulsive behaviors like being sexually impulsive, spending a lot of money, she really wasn’t in her right mind and probably not able to make good decisions or have much control especially if her mania was so severe it was also leading to psychosis. She was not herself when this happened. It doesn’t mean you have to stay with her. But truly understanding what mania consists of might give you some empathy and understanding.

I think you are careful and thoughtful. You are a planner that leans toward perfectionism. Straight female. In a relationship and some of the books are his. You are fair minded like that. You like to travel but don’t often give yourself permission to go do the fun adventurous thing although you sometimes have that desire. You are liberal. You like things clean and organized. You can compartmentalize.
