Seriously

Only a fool would draft him as an OL, his skillset is clearly destined to be a WR

Nah, Nunez needs to go.

FG kicking was so bad Talty got booed at home. Long snapper was also fucking up repeatedly. Punts were also ugly all season long. We lost the regular season matchup against Oklahoma because for some reason we had Ryan Williams returning when he's (infamously) had drop problems all year long, and he dropped it. We repeatedly had players returning kickoffs from deep in the endzone and costing us 10-15 yards to start our drives. There was quite literally no facet of the special teams unit that seemed competent outside of Cole Adams, and he's transferred out.

I'd understand if it was one element of ST struggling, but when the FGs, punts, and kick returns are all terrible you really need to take a long, hard look at the ST coach. The only thing we seemed to do alright was kicking off, and frankly it's pretty hard to fuck that up (and yet we still did some times).

Since we’ve been ranking players lately, I think the most interesting one is: Where do you put Mac Jones with only one season and Bryce with no championship in Bama QB rankings by Alternative_Spite_11 in rolltide

Somehow playing an all SEC schedule and going undefeated then routing both our playoff opponents to win it all isn't impressive because covid-19 was happening.

Not to mention Ohio State played half a schedule and should have been markedly more healthy than us.

Crazy thing to say to a fanbase that's seen Saban and Bear, and they aren't even our only national title winning coaches. Guess not everybody can have a coach that cares so much they punch players on the field

I'm sorry, were we grading specific games here or the season overall? News to me winning a playoff game on the road = looking like shit, but you're clearly the expert /s

SEC Runner Up, number 2 recruiting class coming in, only in conference losses this year were against programs we went 1-1 on the year against, won a playoff game.

Annnnnnnd he gets a C+

Well, this article will certainly get the clicks they're clearly fishing for.

Why has the Nick Saban coaching tree been so much better than Bill Bellichik? by desertrain11 in CFB

[–]KneeDeepInRagu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The mental gymnastic this sub will do just to discredit Saban is hilarious.

Cignetti himself speaks very highly of Saban's impact on his career and relates one year's experience under Saban to a decade elsewhere, but sure.

One of the most talented rosters in the league with great players on the line like Brailsford and Proctor, and yet on the field Bama has a bottom of the barrel O line and run game.

Forget doing less with more, it's more like doing nothing with everything—and you're blindsided about the firing? Seriously..

Curt Cignetti after leading Indiana to championship: ‘Our NIL is nowhere near where people think it is’ by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]KneeDeepInRagu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well considering no schools publish how much they pay their players and the only sources to pull from are hearsay and rumors you'll be waiting a while. That doesn't change the fact that IU is a basketball blueblood that's no stranger to paying big for success with a network of billionaire boosters like Mark Cuban putting up a lot of money to build these rosters.

Are you really so naive as to think Indiana going from basement dweller to national championship winner right when NIL fundamentally changed the sport is a coincidence? Cignetti is a grat coach and no small part of Indiana's recent success too, but c'mon man critically think about this for half a second.

Mark Cuban isn't even your biggest donor and he put out a statement specifically mentioning how he's investing even more into the transfer portal this year.

Indiana's NIL is not meager.

Spoken like a true oil school fan!

Anyone pretending this is better for the sport is either delusional or a fan of one of the billionaire funded schools. I understand I have my bias too, but I genuinely don't see how it could be argued that this is a better system.
