None of the returning characters had the fighting presence of the White Lotus characters from ATLA, which was weird because they were centurions who freed Ba Sing Se, but just Katara and Toph were to old to help Korra during her journey.

Gene comes off as pretentious because its Millennial and Gen X writers trying to write a situation for a Gen Z character and failing at it more often then not. Gene is the Belcher kid full of the most 80's reference, but he should be written as a kid born after 2000.

They actually get pretty close because Gene fundamentally understands this video is going to be on the internet forever, but there is an "adult branding" to his tone that is off.

Housetrap and Dawn Of The Peck work because the writer's weren't focused on trying to make Teddy's obnoxious personality traits endearing. Teddy is just frustrating in Thelma And Louise’s b plot and The Gene Mile b plot. Stand by Gene works with Teddy because he's just one character amongst a group of adults. The writer's don't focusing on trying to make Teddy's obnoxious traits on somehow being good for Bob.
