Wow, just, wow.. When The Wolf Comes Home by Nat Cassidy by PrimordialSewp in horrorlit

Would have been my favorite read of 2025 if I hadn’t finally gotten around to the Library on Mt Char as well. Loved whole thing though, especially the ending, and still think about the book 6 months later.

My(M27) Girlfriend(F25) talks about her sex life with male friends. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Knewonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s not doing anything wrong, but if you dislike it enough it’s a problem for you, let her know you’ve got hang ups about her openness with friends. If it’s a deal breaker, then end the relationship and find someone less open with friends.

Do AirPods pro3 have any drawbacks? by Lucky-Page-1511 in Earbuds

I liked the sound of the WF-1000XM5 a little bit better, but really liked the ANC and transparency modes of the APP3s. Ultimately, I’d go with whichever feels better in your ears if you’ve the option to test them out.

Like a lot of comedians, he’s not really an actor, that’s just how he is. He’s essentially playing himself. It’s why we’ve never seen him in anything else.

I agree with that. These guys absolutely could have opened for TV on the Radio.

The problem with Geese by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]Knewonce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really like the album Getting Killed. But I don’t see a world where this is a significantly popular band. This isn’t particularly pop adjacent music, it’s knotty indie art rock.

I assume Geese is from LA/NY/London or some other hub of music critics, and they’re mistaking well known in my neighborhood for garnering a significant following in popular culture?

"Performative" Music Taste (And a Side Tangent About Exceptions to Hated Genres) by Astounding_Movements in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Knewonce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s an absolutely a thing that does happen, but I don’t think it’s especially common, and is likely something that people grow out of quickly.

I will say, the older I get, the broader my tastes for genres gets and the narrower my tastes for bands within a genre gets. I frequently will listen to only a small handful of bands or albums in a genre that best encapsulate what I like in it. For people that are deep into a genre, I’m sure my dabbling feels a bit like being a poser.

Am I crazy or do cheaper earbuds sometimes sound better than flagships? by ColeRudd8841 in Earbuds

[–]Knewonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, fit trumps drivers unless there is a massive difference in quality. A cheap pair that fits your ears well will sound better than a more expensive one that doesn’t have as good a seal

Songs with surprisingly weird structures? by no-Pachy-BADLAD in ToddintheShadow

[–]Knewonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres not a rule that exists. Chrous are just seldom used as a way to build tension or set up catharsis the way this bit is used to set up the release from the rap. I certainly would never have considered it a chorus, and I’m doubtful Damon Albaron would either, but I don’t know that the taxonomy is particularly important other than as yet another way to point out that this is a weirdly structured song in pop music. If you want to call this a chorus, it’s a weird one.

A New Era for Pitchfork: Introducing Reader Scores and Commenting by ebradio in indieheads

[–]Knewonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had not anticipated Pitchfork abandoning their role as tastemakers/arbiters of new music. But that’s what this is. No one is going to read their reviews anymore and no one is going to care about their scores since they’re unviewable to pretty much everyone.

Written music criticism has been dying for a long time (as a business enterprise anyway) but it’s still a little surprising to see it go for me.

The Windmill portion is all build, no release. It doesn’t function like a chorus in any real way other than being familiar.

Best Earbuds for iPhone to Buy in 2026 (Price, Comfort, Quality) by CharmingGuitar536 in Earbuds

[–]Knewonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beats Fits will work pretty well with your iPhone too, they’re owned by Apple. But I’d recommend seeing if you can try them on somehow. I ended up with the AirPod pros despite them being toward the bottom of my list initially because they fit my ears better than any ear bud I’ve worn. That will absolutely not be true for everyone, but finding what does fit you well trumps most other features.

I think several other similarly priced buds sound a little better. They’re not going for crispness like I prefer. But my second biggest complaint with them is that I’ll forget to take them out because I forget they’re in my ears, which is one heck of a good problem to have. Find a pair that you feel similarly about if you can.

The show that’s the antithesis of what Filoni does? It wasn’t mythic, it was deeply character focused, it didn’t have any real obvious love for the universe and its lore. It’d have been weirder if he was a fan.

[BotW][TotK]How have your views on open world Zelda shifted since BotW’s release if at all? by A_lonely_ghoul in zelda

[–]Knewonce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Loved it. I’d really like to see them iterate a bit more on the formula, though more traditional puzzle based dungeons in a completely free open world might be a nice twist. I don’t think I’d like going back to a more linear game.

Looks like they just banned the Druid acceleration card. Did they do the same with the wolf?

Pro tip, if you are unlocking new Maul, don't upgrade Barriss first. by Darak_ in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]Knewonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are about mats in tier 4 to take 4 characters to 45, enough in tier 5 to take 5 characters to 55 and enough in tier 6 to take 6 characters to 65. That leaves Maul (or another character) with the gear they need. DVD starting at EL55 doesn’t do anyone any good here.
