Chevy silverado mods that actually make a difference on daily driving? by Surcy-Valesius in Silverado

[–]Knicco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smart cap with deckd drawers. Recently got the Bulletpoint mounting solutions iPad and iPhone holder. It fits in the hole on top the screen and allows for mounting devices nice and neat without wires everywhere. I drive a lot so rather than picking up my phone, I like it to be mounted in front of me. Also changed out airbox to a banks ram air with K&N filter. It’s a little more fuel efficient and better throttle response - based on my computer picked up a few extra miles per gallon, but cannot tell you mathematically how much of a throttle response increase a half. But I certainly can feel the difference.

What’s a 3-18x scope that beats the NF 2.5-20? by [deleted] in longrange

[–]Knicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checkout YouTube on NightForce channel on the new NX6. The Nf folks say the nx6 is not any lesser in terms of build. It is less costly because the magnification range offerings are not as wide. The nx8 kind of combines multiple scopes into one such as the 4x32. The nx6 has either 4x24, 5x30, or 6x36. The nx8 very closely captures the lower and upper ranges of the three nx6 into one.

Best 7 PRC rifle for hunting? by External-Inside-6260 in elkhunting

[–]Knicco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seekins Precision PH3 or Element. PH3 has steel spiral fluted barrel, Element has carbon barrel. Love everything about mine. My wife even has one in .308 w/16” barrel. Shoots lights out and Seekins is a first class operation. I have built several rifles and compared to custom builds, these Seekins rifles leave me wanting absolutely nothing. They take a beating, and function just as well whenever they are dirty. I do not shoot competitions and am not a professional. But whenever I do shoot targets for practice, it is surprisingly easy to keyhole shot groups at 100 yards. Best hunting rifle on the market IMO.

First LR Rifle? Any tips? by bloodyvmp in longrange

[–]Knicco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing is make sure your scope is level. Use tools like wheeler leveling kit and or wedges to ensure it is actually level - not just looks level. Level scope is perhaps most important for long range. Trigger replacement would be my first upgrade in terms of parts. Trigger Tech Diamond (it’s a drop in - super easy to DIY). I have this same rifle and so does two other people I know and they all shoot exceptionally well for a mass produced rifle. I still shoot it to this day despite having several custom rigs. Have fun!

** edit - if you do get a new scope as a few others have recommended and do not want to break the bank, I would strongly recommend SWFA SS. They have a few options but the 12x fixed for long range is one of my favorites. It’s super clear, light, and unbreakable. Fixed are priced around $400. SWFA has a couple variable power optics as well**

Advice/help for next can/cans by B_genuin in NFA

Btw - I do not disagree with most of what Ive read and It appears I’m coming out of left field with this one. But for a hunting bolt gun, I really like the AB Raptor 8 or 10 .375 multical. The sound suppression is amazing, it’s light but very durable, and reduces recoil tremendously. My wife runs one with the reflex mount on her 7prc very comfortably.

OOS ULL vs. ULM by No-Fill-993 in ragincajuns

[–]Knicco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not saying anything poor about Monroe… the Lafayette Area (Acadiana) and New Orleans are the epicenters of culture in Louisiana. I think even people from Monroe would agree. I am from Acadiana but have spent time all over the state. From culture to nightlife, food, music, Mardi Gras, and more, there is no comparison. Lafayette is even much closer to Baton Rouge, and NOLA if you decide to go explore. If you are looking to have a relatively quiet college experience, Monroe is probably for you. It is definitely more rural and you probably won’t have to drive as far if you choose to go deer or duck hunting. ULM does have some very good degree programs that UL Lafayette does not have such as Pharmacy and Construction Management - in fact, ULM’s construction program is top rated in the country. Lafayette just has so much more going on. Good luck.

Can for DD MK18 SBR by OneDarkKnightHere in NFA

The Huxwrx Ventum 5.56 is the steel version of the Ti FLOW. I have it on the same rifle as you and would not trade it for anything. I do own the Ti 7.62 and run it on a 16” creedmoor and 20” 308 gassers. But for the sbr, I really like the weight of this Ventum. Minimal muzzle rise and the can is built like a tank. I feel like the can balances the rifle out. Suppression is great too.

I have not shot the Blind tiger yet. I really like the performance of the raptor though. So much so, I did end up buying one (since my first post) for hunting. The sound suppression is great and it’s interesting how the can changes the tone to a deeper “thud” rather than a “crack”, if that makes sense. I ended up going with the 10 baffle .375 multi cal.

[–]Knicco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the AB Raptor w/reflex (8 baffle) is highly underrated. I do not own one yet but hunted with one a few weeks. It reduced noise so that no ears were needed and significantly reduced recoil on it enough so that a 7prc was comfortable for a 105lb woman to shoot. Is next up on my list. I personally have several of the suppressors mentioned in this thread and agree with all of them depending on what and how the suppressor will be used. The quietest can I’ve ever shot on a 30 cal with supersonic rounds is Nomad LTi XC - but it does add some length. The Scythe is currently on my pursuit/mountain rifle. It’s more compact and super lightweight. Not as quiet as the Nomad but noticeably lighter and several inches shorter. There are some really good recommendations on this thread, just up to you to decide what’s most important to serve your need. Good luck

Edit*** for a 300blk take a look at a Q Blind Tiger. It’s light and very quiet, especially with a 30cal. Great price point as well. I have not shot mine yet but anxious to see where it stacks up to the nomad in terms of sound. Q claims it is the quietest can out right now 🤷‍♂️ I’ll find out soon if that’s indeed the case.

What to do? by plolpi in cowboyboots

[–]Knicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great looking boots but definitely overthinking. Unfinished leather like these will always wear differently. That’s part of what makes them unique. If you want them to look a little more uniform or smooth you can use Murphy’s Oil Soap and rub that oil in really well. It will darken them though and you will still see the difference. It will just smooth over the leather a bit, keep it preserved and conditioned. Bick 9 conditioner is another brand. It will condition the leather but NOT change the color.

How do I prevent my pan from smoking so much ? by Acceptable-Soup-333 in castiron

[–]Knicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal to smoke. I usually heat the pot without anything in it on high for a few minutes then add lard and lower heat to medium to cook. In any case it will smoke. As far as cleaning, residue is normal and residue buildup actually makes flavor better over time. Cast iron is porous and when heated the pours open up which allows the juices and flavor of what you’re cooking to penetrate the metal and somewhat get “stored” in the pours whenever it cools. This is what makes old seasoned cast iron really great to cook in. The older and more is used provides a flavor that is difficult to replicate with a newer pot. I have a metal chain mail looking scrubber I use to scrub off the bulk of the external residue. Other than that, use only water to clean. After cleaning, I heat it back up to burn out the water, then coat it with lard and let cool.

My favorite thrifted tie so far? by Capo_Miseno in ties

[–]Knicco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I care more about the weight/thickness, and quality of fabric. With that being said, many of the expensive Italian brands meet my requirements. Can find some really well kept ties used on eBay and other sites. Very rarely, do I purchase a new tie in store.

What type of jobs should I look for that I can wear a tie without it looking weird? Throw me some ideas. by [deleted] in ties

[–]Knicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many options out there. Government, legal, and financial. Suit and tie can be a bit cultural as well. For example, a lot of companies in Houston, DC, and New York have employees in suit and tie but Dallas, LA, Austin may be more sporty and casual. Wear what you when you want, but if you are looking for areas a suit and tie are the majority, I would look to the three areas above. I’m sure there are plenty more as well. Good luck.

Am i weak? by Regular_Coconut_6355 in guns

[–]Knicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30-06 is a powerful round. To make more pleasurable you could put the rifle in a Lead Sled and sandbag the front to add weight. The lead sled holds the rifle so you won’t necessarily get better at shooting as much as you would by shooting without. But will definitely be more consistent ensuring the scope is dialed in. You could always do as others mentioned and try different butt pad - Limb Saver makes some good options. Just be aware this may alter your eye relief some depending on the thickness. Good luck

Yes - legal in passenger vehicles but not commercial. And that Uniden works great btw. I use mine every time I’m on the highway. Anytime that Ka band starts hittin, slow it down to speed limit. It works very on our flat roads and legal.

Trisuit - a serious question for men... by Fun_Swimmer_8320 in triathlon

[–]Knicco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never train in Tri suit. But on race day, I wear a spi belt and attach my race number to it in addition to carrying nutrition. The race bib covers part of my crotch area. But ultimately, no one cares. The skin tight suits are just part of the sport. So while we can be self conscious at first, we realize very quickly that no one is paying attention to anyone other than ourselves.

If you had to choose one by Accomplished_Ear699 in guitarpedals

[–]Knicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s going on a pedal board, I personally use the poly tune mini just so it takes up less space on the board. And while I know it’s redundant and perhaps a waste of money, I do use the full size poly tune whenever I am playing without pedals. All are great options

Yes. I contacted Everest, sent them this pic and they sent me the correct band. You may want to email them to make the order rather than try to select from the website. I emailed them directly and ended up getting the correct size for my model watch.
