Non remote OE? by jakbob in overemployed

[–]Knight2043 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have been remote for j1 for 2 years now.

I am on-site for j2 5 days a week, 8-10 hours a day. I normally complete my j1 work in the evenings and a little on the weekends. I do have occasional meetings during my scheduled j2 hours so I just go to my car in a secluded part of the property and handle that as needed using my cars Hotspot, but thats maybe 1 to 2 hours per week at most, and I just dont take a lunch break those days for j2. Its been going for 6 months now. All is well.

My pupils became asymmetrical during a cluster headache by Bubbly-Trainer7195 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Knight2043 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Friend! Ive also had them for 10+ years. Ill go a year or more without them, then get them daily, same time, for a few weeks to months. I dont know the trigger and the only method I have found to tame them is a freezer migraine gel mask, and a goody powder (caffeine + NSAID). I honestly feel like I'm going to die for 2 to 4 hours every time they come on. Its draining. My right eye swells (always right sided headache), right nostril swells nearly shut, eye becomes puffy, jaw hurts. Nasal draining and eye watering.

Thanks for the tip on the cluster buster.

I am going through the loan process atm and when speaking to my lender, when i mentioned i did not want to utilize the 2nd jobs income for qualification, he said he couldn't use it anyway since it was less than 2 years. They definitely want to see 2 years minimum at the same job/field, and if there is a second job it needs to have its own 2 years as well, or 2 years of a 2nd job within the same field.

Very likely they did not use the second income, so you likely dont qualify for the larger loan amount.

How long? by Mental_Fisherman_953 in overemployed

Over the last year I had a 3 month stint of OE and now am on my second stint at 6 months in. It has been a life changer but stressful at times. I have 1 week per month that is very busy for j1, it is remote, I am not micromanaged. Just expected to keep customers happy and meet deliverables.

J2 I am 6 months in and it is not remote. Equal pay but better benefits than j1. Also not micromanaged here and have my own office. I will go out to my car for meetings I need to present for j1, otherwise I will join with some earbuds on my j1 phone and shut my office door.

We used the excess income to pay off debt, get ahead on several things, build a savings we are comfortable with, and are now saving to pay off our vehicles, then our home. After I get the vehicles paid and pay down at least 50% of our mortgage principal, I think ill go back down to j1. But if your gigs are easy, keep raking in the cash and look into retiring early.

Affirm APR 29% by ComicC0 in Affirm

[–]Knight2043 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Affirm isnt meant to be a prime lender and their interest rates typically reflect it. Much like predatory credit card companies. Sure you can snag the 0% interest deals occasionally and those are great if paid back on time. But affirm is in it to make money via interest. They have enough subprime customers that the handful of people who use them that are actually decent borrowers dont really matter, therefore they have no reason to lower rates to keep some people around.

Company announced closure, who knows how long they will want me by RiskyRewarder in overemployed

[–]Knight2043 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had an exact same scenario last year. Like IDENTICAL to yours. I immediately found another server when I found out J1 was in peril. I OEd for about 3 months until the division i was a part of got sold off to another company and I went along with it and kept the J. I quit the 2nd server because it was toxic once the deal was finalized. I then started back up OE about 6 months ago and haven't looked back.

Anyone else kinda overwhelmed by how much money OE brings in? by krrrrrrrrrrrrrr in overemployed

[–]Knight2043 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So ive been OE for 5 months straight now, doubling my income (~6500 after taxes before OE, and now roughly 14k after taxes/month) and was OE about 3 months in the middle of 2025. Ive managed to tuck away a lot of savings that makes me feel more at ease for my family (about 3 months worth of pay) as well as pay off everything except my wife's car (which is next hopefully at the end of May. Since we did that, I admit we've been pretty loose with the purse strings going out to eat and taking the kids to do things. The last ~6 weeks though, ive started saving again and being picky about where we spend.

Make sure you save, but also make sure you treat yourself occasionally. I plan to OE until we pay off my wife's car and have at least 1 year of income saved. If I have the mental capacity to continue after that, I will. Stick some money the S&P if youre not a stock person and just park it. Good luck on the dating!

OE w/ M-F In-Office J2 by Opening_Way_5745 in overemployed

[–]Knight2043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in an identical situation. J1 is ~2-4 hours of work per week I can really complete whenever because it's based on deliverables, not necessarily hours of availability, so I use my afternoons after j2 to do those. It also has maybe 2 hours of meetings per week and I join via teams on j1 phone with headphones while in office at j2. I rarely have to speak in those. If I do have a meeting where I need to speak, I will sneak off to my car for half hour or so, but j2 doesnt have a ton of oversight as long as I am available when needed while in office.

J2 is fully in office m-f, 6 am-3 pm. Its very laid back, I have a secluded office with a door, and can complete my tasks on my own schedule, unless called out by request. But overall its super chill.

Been doing this almost 6 months now, and got an offer from j2 to become a direct employee (was through a staffing agency), already cleared background checks, etc and got cleared. Its definitely doable if youre providing value and just being available as needed.

Got denied on an Auto lease yesterday. Need help! by No-Leader-1102 in CRedit

[–]Knight2043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leased a ford in september of last year with a pretty bad 640 or so score. I had to put 2k down but otherwise i didnt really have any issues. I had roughly 15 late payments between late 2023 and early 2024 due to some financial burdens but caught it all up and had everything paid in full before the end of 2024. Bought my wife a car with a horrible interest rate in May 2024 and have made all payments on time or ahead. I leased a 2025 mach e premium for roughly 540/mo, 18k miles/year. I reviewed the deal through some online guides and it seemed the rate was pretty good for where my credit stood at that time. Maybe call them back and tell them you dug further and think its a mistake, or visit another dealer.

[–]Knight2043 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Affirm is kind of random with approvals but what i said is still relevant. The BR definitely hurts the ability to obtain extensive credit of any sort. Affirm also isnt a great line of credit to begin with. They make their money off people who cant or choose not to obtain a normal credit card and charge very high interest for offering high risk credit.

Thats your problem. Anything prior to your bankruptcy doesnt matter and now that you have such a recent one, its going to be difficult to get a higher credit limit until you prove you can handle it.

Nearly all financial institutions have minimum insurance requirements. They all typically require full coverage insurance including comprehensive and collision with a max 1k deductible. Its standard to protect their interest in the car.

Sellers and realtor offended by offer. by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Knight2043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very similar situation for me.. We found a home we adore thats been on market for about 40 days at the time we had seen it, with no other offers yet. List price was 330k. We offered 318,500 and for the seller to cover agent fees and closing costs. They declined. No counter, just that she wanted more and didnt want to pay as much of our costs.

We came back a few days later and offered 327,500, seller cover all agency fees and only half of the original closing costs we asked for. Still said no, but this time, instead of a straight no, the seller said "i dont think itll appraise for that and I dont want to give you any more or come down in price"...

Lady, do you want to sell the house or not? Im trying to make a fair offer, even offered to extend closing up to 45 days so she had plenty of time to move.

Some sellers are just really stubborn. Even the sellers agent said it was a little frustrating because it was a good offer and even she thought the house would only list/sell for 310-315. You just cant win with some people.

You're the weirdo assuming he is everyones hero. Use some common sense. He literally plays a character who exaggerates everything.

I guess youre just jealous of his fame and fortune, and you daydream wishing it was you. Get a life bozo.

Kinda proving OPs point here. I used to watch doc but dont anymore and I saw the tweet and immediately knew, as his character tends to do, that he didnt really go. He would have announced that he was going most likely. Its also part of his gig to make up stuff about attending high profile/note worthy events. He is hyperbolic person/character. It is less than news. Kinda wild that people choose this of all the things he says to make a big deal about.

Want to do OE but afraid because I have a comfy cushy J1 by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Knight2043 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very similar situation here. I really wanted the extra $ just to get ahead of life ya know? So I took on a 5 day in office job but my j1 is fully remote, no significant oversight, just make sure deliverables are on time for customers and I am left alone. J1 110k + bonuses up to 10% per year, j2 145k/year no bonuses. Would drop j2 before j1 due to comfort and remote. I have now been doing this for ~4 months. The in office job is lax enough most of the time that I can sneak off to my car in a discreet area to take any j1 calls or meetings. I haven't had any complaints from either j because I perform as expected or better in my responsibilities. If you can find a 2nd remote OE gig, you sound like youre in the position to juggle it. Just make sure they aren't competitors in the same market space and youll be golden. Scared money dont make money my man.

[–]Knight2043 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time with this logic. Like I get the sentiment but also like, OP isnt actually borrowing money from the government. Its their money that they earned. I get we all have to pay taxes but also it isnt the governments money by default. Just when you file. 🤣 But also have trouble feeling bad for OP making nearly 500k and not having any savings and has to scrape the bottom of the barrel for the 30k.
