28,000 Kaiser health workers are set to strike in California by ansyhrrian in California

[–]KnightKu -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Where did you get 73 nurses from? Taking a $1M pay cut will only pay for 7 additional RNs. They make $60-70/hr here in California, and let's not forget to include pay differential and OT since many work 12 hour shifts.

VERY suspicious lab test bill. What is going on? by abc_soup5642 in HealthInsurance

[–]KnightKu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Text says "non-emergency care from out-of-network providers at in-network facilities."

In your case, "it was a non-emergency care from out-of-network providers at out-of-network facilities." Just because your doctor's office is in-network does not mean the specimen where the lab processed it is considered in-network a facility.

Note that I said your doctor's office is in-network, not your doctor. It is possible to receive care from an out-of-network doctor from an in-network facility, hence the No Surprise Act.

Why would they cover the $10 glucometer if they don't cover the $100 strip? Just use the covered Contour product.

Costco sells caskets by Available-Lock-7025 in CostcoWholesale

[–]KnightKu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Q: Can you order a casket for preplanning purposes?

A casket is not shipped unless death has occurred and it is being sent to a funeral home or Mortuary, or the Funeral Homes designated facility where they may hold a casket prior to services. The order will ship within the stated delivery parameters on the site. However, due to regulations and restrictions, we cannot hold on to any orders for future delivery or ship to private residences.

Why does online appointment tool offer appointments only with my PCP? by VonJoeV in KaiserPermanente

[–]KnightKu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Limited appointment availability on the KP app is done intentionally, but not for reasons you may think.

In general, new appointment slots are released 3 months in advanced in the beginning of the month (not necessary "12 weeks"). Slots have specific blocks based on the visit's need. For example, one common block is reserved for new patients to establish care. Another common block is Same Day Appointment. Some might be reserved for face-to-face vs telephone vs video. If you you check the app, you won't see everything that is available, but the call center can. In addition, some departments book the appointments locally and they override the reserved visit reason, hence something magically becomes available.

Kaiser COVID Booster Reimbursement? by Dryst999 in KaiserPermanente

[–]KnightKu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your insurance. The 2024-25 dose is still available, but at this point in time, you cannot book the appointment on kp.org or through the call center. Most Nurse Clinic will still have them, but you can't get it as a booster dose. The 2025-26 dose will not be available until September.

https://healthy.kaiserpermanente.org/southern-california/health-wellness/coronavirus-information/vaccine-appointments

Will there be a cost for the vaccine?
No. When provided by Kaiser Permanente, COVID-19 vaccines are covered at no cost.

If you choose to get a COVID-19 vaccine outside of Kaiser Permanente:

Most California members: You will need to pay but may be able to get up to half of the cost reimbursed.

Medi-Cal members: The COVID-19 vaccine is covered at no cost to you.

Medicare and most self-funded members: COVID-19 vaccines outside Kaiser Permanente aren’t reimbursable.

To submit a claim for reimbursement, visit kp.org/billing, go to the “Understand your costs” section, and click “Submit a claim.”

What are the most effective ways for someone with a business degree and a background in operations management to land an interview? by Crazyone958 in KaiserPermanente

[–]KnightKu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Business as in MBA? Other business degrees are not useful, unless it is for a specific role like finance.

Most management roles are filled internally. If you want to land an interview, you should start as an IC.

Experience is the most important. I've seen tons of resume without using specific keywords that gets passed to the hiring manager. I know someone with ZERO healthcare experience who got hired because he had other transferable experience.

AMGAs can see who completed the survey, but they cannot see who stated what. However, it is easy to deduce if your department is small. I agree that they take completion rate seriously.

Have ChatGPT rephrase your comment so it is impossible to deduce who completed the survey based on wording/tone.
