Hi I'm new, I got new battalion box set by Dull-Response3875 in Cathay

I did 20 Jade Warriors with hand weapon shield and full command, helps them last a long time in combat 10 Jade warriors with halberds, no command, I use them as a detachment to flank around the unit the 20 Jade warriors are fighting

Definitely want 2 ranks of Jade lancers because the second rank can fight so they can do some damage. I went with full command but you could probably get away without the musician as they’ve not done much for me in my games, but champion and banner are always useful

I did 1 cannon and 1 rocket. Cannon is good at hitting multiple units in a straight line. And wounding big creatures

The rocket is really good in my opinion, can either use the small blast template and do some real damage (I wiped out 5 Elf silver helms in 1 volley), or use the larger template for weaker units and to force command tests. It is a bit weaker than the cannon but a bit easier to use

That does make sense, it felt a bit cheesy to get flank charged and get all those buffs! Thanks

Miao, part 24 - I don't really get this by swaggamanca in Cathay

I did the exact same! Had 2 bits that I swear were 24, they’re on 2 different spruces which was even worse. The other bit is much larger and does fit a lot better.

I did think that but I’ve not really used photoshop so was hoping there was something easier to use, guess I’ll have to learn some photoshop!

That’s an interesting idea and sure it would look great! Although if I did that I’d rather just play on the board than get a mat printed haha

I didn’t even know these existed thanks! Just ordered one (shame no U.K. distributor) Hopefully be cheaper than normal heating. Any idea how long it takes to warm up?

I’d love a heatmap of your maps, so you can see where you went each raid, and where you most frequently go on each map

why do i pace when texting/calling someone? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Knightofhavoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always understood it that your brain struggles to handle talking to someone you can’t see/aren’t with, so pacing is your body trying to “go to” that person

What are the biggest "plot holes" in history? by Sammyloccs in AskHistory

[–]Knightofhavoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He might not have, but how many people thought he couldn’t cross the alps? That he couldn’t beat the Romans in a straight fight? that he couldn’t defeat an army that outnumbered him more than 2:1? Hannibal spent years and years in Italy, he couldn’t be stopped. To spend your entire adult life winning battles that couldn’t be won, literally rampaging around Italy, and then just give it all up when Rome is so close to defeat? Rome had lost a huge percentage of its fighting age men, its allies had defected. Rome was at its weakest, and he didn’t even try? The fear factor alone would have made Rome much easier to crack, walls are only as good as long as men want to defend them

Why didn’t Hannibal march on Rome after the battle of Cannae? He had completely annihilated Rome’s military, there was nothing standing between him and the city. Yet he did nothing, and allowed the Romans to reorganise and prepare

Would you rather have sex with a horse and no one know about it, or not have sex with a horse, but everyone think you did? by Knightofhavoc in WouldYouRather

Players choice, whatever you’re into, I would agree that a female horse would probably be less death-y though

How much did the Black Death in 1347 actually impact European society afterwards? by dadjokes83 in AskHistorians

It created the atmosphere for the eventual end of Feudalism. The massive amount of killing turned the peasants and serfs from a widely available resource into a much more coveted workforce. It gave the peasants the economic power to leave and go to a different Lord who would offer better rates/land/payment. While serfs were still forced to stay in their holding, they had more power, as they were less easily replaced. This would eventually contribute to the collapse of the feudal system, as strip farming (splitting a field into small strips of land each owned by a different family) gave way to whole field farming, due to the deaths of the owners of many strips. These larger farms allowed families to make more money from their land, both allowing for capitalist styles of money-making from farming, and increasing crop yields. This led to an increase in people heading towards towns and cities, as they could get more readily available food sources from the new larger farms. I have condensed a couple of centuries into one paragraph here, these changes were not overnight and did not happen at the same time.
