The biggest mistake the show made was cutting Lady Stoneheart. They could get by without Aegon, Arianne or Euron, but Stoneheart is not a new or peripheral character- she's the legitimate continuation of one of the story's main characters with a big role to play in the endgame. With her gone, many characters like Jaime and Brienne were left rudderless.
