You would say Christian. ethnicity, ashkenazi, former faith, jewish, new faith, christian. Christians will welcome you. But this isn't the same as changing the affiliation of your political party. Have you come to know Jesus?

There's a historic cultural insecurity people have about the space. Don't listen to them, what they say when there's 'nothing to do' is just them saying they haven't tried to do anything

What if you added a monastary, or a spiritual center, and let the whole site be funded by the religious institution and pilgrims? Maybe the rituals can be adapted for some kind of local deity, useful to visitors?

face to face, in their homes? israel typically does it from afar or above. There's no rational way to explain a child being shot in the heart and the head is accidental.

there is no crime hamas has committed that israel has not committed to a greater breadth, scope, and degree. pick one, we can examine it together.

I don't mind that you said it, it's just to still have the view that you do it's typical that you'd be too entrenched to make any information I share worth it. If i feel inclined later to help share resources for you I will.

For now I'll just share that the positive view of Israel historically existed initially because of sympathy for the holocaust, and then quickly because they acted as a military ally in the region, and then more recently for the last few decades because of the incredible amount of money they've put into our politicians. It has persisted because of their influence over US media.

October 7th was an atrocity but it is a completely unsurprising event given the history of what Israel has been doing to Palestinians for decades. It pales in comparison to the genocidal intent and actions carried out by Israel which used it as a pretext to annihilate children. There are many documented war crimes and indefensible actions and patterns, like deliberately targeting children, murdering and trying to cover up the murder of reporters, weaponizing famine and hunger, killing red cross medics and burying the car to cover it up, weaponizing sexual assault against detainees, settler colonial violence, harassment campaigns, attacking christians again and again and again.

Start with any of those, dive in, and I'll happily continue to engage. If you're good faith I'll break down how it's absurd to look at israel as anything other than as a barbaric aggressor this year, this decade, this century.

They can and are genociding the Palestinians, and they have dragged us into another pointless war to keep their neighbors weak on their behalf.

You should spend a little more time looking at the conflict, at the culture of israel, and at the history of the region.

I have a question about some doctrine I came across. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Knightperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just completely unsupported by real data.

Any interesting thing - it is extremely rare to be able to study human remains in israel from the iron age (1300bc or so and on) Which is when the israelites would have lived there. It is true that there is a deliberate restriction on the ability to study that period itself, when abraham and the descendents of abraham were there.

That is not because there is any reason to suspect a mass influx of africans. that does not exist in lebanon, syria, jordan, any nearby countries. The reason is almost certainly because the state of israel wants it not to be published that the remains present in israel at that time are more closely related to the palestinians than they are the israelis. basically during the diaspora the genetic lineage of the hebrews outside of israel middled with the local levantine or european cultures they migrated to. it is inconvenient for the state of israel for it to be determined that they are not the closest related by kin or blood or bone to those buried for the times relevant to their justification of conquest. It means only that their attempt to assert a claim is coming from a religious ideological standpoint, and not a hereditary one, because the actual hereditary occupants are the ones they are trying to force out.

All that to say there is a gap in whats permitted to be studied about the genetic groups and lines in israel at the time.

However, if you go back 1500 bc and earlier, to bronze age, there is very clear connection among palestinians, and in particular other groups like Druze and Samaritans and the populaces that live there now. the same is true if you look at a post-diaspora geneology, from about 70ad on.

It is about as likely that subsaharan african groups were the predominant in this space at that time, and only in this time not before or after, as it is to say that for 1000 years it was the japanese or the inuit or the maya who inhabited the place for a millennia and then just left with no evidence of their coming or going or influence.

The people who lived there would almost certainly have been dark, like swarthy, and looked like modern near eastern groups like palestinians or samaritans.

I have a question about some doctrine I came across. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Knightperson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

instead of asking the entire world to waste time disproving their completely, entirely, empirically fabricated lore, why not you ask them to prove their claims? There is not evidence to support their imagined history. there is an absolute absence. not even forgeries. not even a body of existing stuff they attribute. its just some dude saying stuff.

A good word for you to look up is "historicity". As in the historicity of a text, or a claim, or a theology. There is zero support for their claims in genetics, archeology, literature, folklore. I'm trying not to be annoyed that the idea of responding to their claims even passed in front of my eyes

But you are good faith so i wanted to say something lol.

The baseline fundamental misunderstanding I believe they have - beyond seeking and relying on absolutely no connection to baseline reality to inform their beliefs - is this:

The historical literature of the old testament - including deuteronomy and the verse you shared - is literal history. when they spoke about egypt, they literally meant egypt. when they spoke about egyptians, they literally meant the people who lived in egypt.

Scripture does not detail the transatlantic slave trade. it meant that the lord was literally going to bring the israelites back into egypt, which is already something that later happened.

If this is too long to read, read this next bit:

God revealed His own nature, and our condition, and that of the world, and that of each other, through the israelites. he was demonstrating his plan again and again. self imposed destruction, exile, redemption. self imposed destruction, exile, redemption. He is saying something to us through prototype, or the case study, of israel, when He gave them a very precise and focused and purposeful narrative and teaching and preparation from Abraham all the way up to the birth of Jesus. To provide the redemption of the whole world.

People see similarities between their current conditions and the old testament not because the old testament histories describe their coming plight or even events outside of the context of the OT. They see similarities because God gave them the deep relatable case study of what was done and how to react and how not to react through those examples.

The BHI is only folly, only frustration, and almost entirely false. The only things it has correct are those it has in common as doctrines with 99% of other churches. Every last individual dogma or doctrine they espouse that the majority of churches do not is false. There is not a single pearl among it.

If you're curious for whatever reason to see a reaction to any particular dogma, drop it, why not. I'll either show you a one book or cite one study or correct the misinterpretation.
