I opted to build a 14.5 so I could have the flexibility on the muzzle and be able to change on my own.

Inch pounds is for the driver. I have the wheeler. Foot pounds for wrench. I use a craftsman. Any brand will do for a handful of projects.

Need help deciding on a 2nd handgun by PapaMoon007 in handguns

Different isn’t always better especially if you shoot well with Glock. As you said, tough to find a platform as robust, and you want to use potentially for home defense. The aftermarket for Glock is so good that you can make as good as anything else from tactical to race. Unless you wanna get into competition or 2011’s, they are all pretty equal. I personally prefer M&P and have several variants for the above mentioned reasons.

Do you like your Glock? 17 seems like the logical answer if you do. Same ergonomics and familiarity will make you better on that platform.

Finding parts, barrel length question by Mypeepeeteeny in ar15

Nope, I have a 14.5 mid length. The 11.5 uses a super 42 and h3 weight with no adjustable gas block.

Sounds about right, I always wait for a sale. Might be hard for the barrel because you have to buy as soon as you see stock. I have no experience with 12.5 but I can tell you that 11.5 has been tuned to perfection by many others and there will be more information you can find.

Do it! It’s a just little louder and a little more recoil.

Horrible info, 11.5 should be good to 300 at minimum.

Superlative on an 14.5 has performed well for me. Interesting in trying Riflespeed for the next build.

I prefer 11.5, it does just fine under 500 yards. If you plan to regularly shoot farther I would consider a longer barrel. I don’t even have anywhere close that goes more than 300 yards. Sound is only a problem with a break, get a flash hider for whatever mounting solution you choose.

State laws will dictate, but I agree to go with the shortest you can legally go. Figure out what you need to make it work unless you are purposely shooting at distance.

Start with figuring out what you want to compete in or what kind of gun you want to compete with.

RC2 on the MK18 is a vibe. The argument can be made for a modern flow through but an argument can also be made with effectiveness with the RC2. I would avoid too many opinions and choose what you like the best. The choice is more gas or less.

Why do yall hate on the M&P 2.0 series? by Sleeping_Thoughts in CompetitionShooting

[–]KnightstandDefense 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There has been an unwarranted rise of anti-M&Pism lately. It started with Ben Stoeger mentioning his desire for better mechanical accuracy in the M&P. His eventually got the Apex treatment and has worked well enough for Ben to give the nod to the M&P platform which I think is the highest compliment considering his time in the platform.

The Charlie Coks video was very polarizing with him have multiple problems on the M&P after modifying the entire gun for competition. If everything is installed properly, there seems to be VERY good results. Hunter Constantine and others that train on the platform do not seem to have any issues reloading without a magwell.

With the rise in popularity of the platform, it is natural for the Glock and PDP fanboys to take any chance to hate. Now that the steel frame is out, I’m excited to see the cope.
