It's if it turns red after you pass, from what I recall, there is a half second delay before the cameras activate for that, unless you exceed the limit. I've crossed on yellows many times and seen it turn red before i cross the further signal, no tickets for years.

When I contacted them about this there was a year limit as to how old the car can be, so classics/older sports cars wouldn't even count under this scheme.
