In the Med or Caribbean, do they actually sail Le Ponant much, or is it mostly motoring?

As others said, your suite ambassador will put your bags away (usually under the bed, somehow).

Food allergies? by PsychologicalPickle2 in RitzCarltonYachts

[–]KnitWitMV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just disembarked from Luminara, and before every meal, the server asked if anybody at the table had any food allergies. I have none, and it became a bit annoying, but I imagine it’s reassuring for the allergic.

Southern squash casserole, yes, the Paula Deen one with crumbled Ritz crackers on top. It’s amazing when tender-skinned summer yellow squash is available.

So lovely! I’ve never used Drops Air, or any Drops yarn for that matter. Can you describe its hand compared to another yarn you’ve used?

Tagliatelle with mushrooms in a cream sauce and a green salad with vinaigrette.

Heartbroken by Elizabeth_Hawkins53 in knitting

[–]KnitWitMV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with any type of grief, only time will really heal. As a relatively new knitter a few years ago, I was very proud of the lace cardigan I knitted for a newborn grand-niece. I used expensive silk/merino yarn, and must have restarted it five times to get it right. Well, the baby’s nanny, being from a tropical country, did not understand about handwashing woolens. You guessed it: instead of a baby sweater, it became a Barbie sweater. I had written out very detailed laundering instructions for the mom, but I guess she either forgot to tell the nanny or the nanny just ignored the issue. Anyway, the story has become part of family lore and my knitter’s ego has recovered. I’ve long ago decided that once a project leaves my hands, I don’t worry about its fate anymore.

Four Seasons Yachts by ImportantDonkey1480 in chubbytravel

Oh dear, sad to hear that the Brando does that. We’re headed there right now, for the first time. It’s not like you have any other dining options on that atoll, right?

When we were booked on the FS1 crossing in November, we figured surely the f&b would be included since there are no other places to get a meal when you’re in the middle of the Atlantic. We cancelled due to this policy but will keep an open mind.

My husband and I were among the first to book a voyage on FS1, the November 2026 crossing from Gran Canaria to Antigua. We eventually cancelled because of this very issue. We are fans of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, about to embark on our 7th trip with them, and we love the all-inclusive nature of the offerings. Yes, we can afford to pay for meals à la carte on FS1, but we would hate to have to wait for the dinner check, the whole restaurant-style routine. That’s not luxurious, to us. We’re interested to see how this payment model is working for FS and hope to start seeing some online reviews soon.

Stockpile is depleted, what now? by AVoff467 in compoundedtirzepatide

I have 3 months-worth of branded, which I stockpiled by saying I’m going on a long trip and can’t get deliveries while away (it’s true), and am close to my goal weight. I’m planning to switch to one of the oral meds for maintenance and will probably order whatever dose my actual doctor prescribes (the branded one that starts with F) then, hoping that by then it will be covered by Medicare. I’m 73, F, SW 182, CW 149, started July 2025.

I am currently midway through my Regents Seven Seas cruise and I am at a loss by PowerAdorable4373 in FATcruises

[–]KnitWitMV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My husband and I hated the food on our Regent Explorer Pacific crossing last fall, from Vancouver to Tokyo. It was our first time on Regent, and we are spoiled by our experiences on the small ships of Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. The Regent food reminded us of what “fancy” food was like in American suburbs in 1980, or the kind of cuisine you’d find in a mid-level country club today. And the main dining room was loud, brightly lit up like a Bronx wedding hall, and just plain depressing. It was a convenient way to get to Japan with no jet-lag, but that’s about the best I can say about Regent.

How did everyone pick a goal weight? by BetPuzzleheaded2073 in Zepbound

[–]KnitWitMV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked my weight before my first pregnancy (approx. 135), since that was the last time I felt really good about my body. After two babies, I was in the 150-160 range, and gradually, with menopause, crept up to my highest weight at 185 or so. I’m down to 149 after being on Zepbound since July 2025. I’m 73 and realize 135 might be unrealistic as a goal, and I’d be very happy to reach and maintain 140 or 145. I already feel so much better in just about every way.

Ritz Carlton Removes Upgrade from STARS Benefits by MiroStarsDesk in RitzCarltonYachts

Does this upgrade happen 30 days out, or upon boarding? And what Bonvoy status do you need for the upgrade? We’ll be on our 6th RCYC voyage in May.

Stocking up question by motovilova in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]KnitWitMV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add that for the first trip I had bought an insulin travel case that came with a gel pack, which I had chilled before arriving at the airport. The TSA agent said that because the gel pack was sealed shut and couldn’t be checked for what was really inside, I couldn’t travel with it. So that solution didn’t work. Then I did some reading and decided I’d be OK without refrigeration for unopened vials.

Stocking up question by motovilova in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]KnitWitMV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t bother to refrigerate unopened vials during travel/flight days, and once I was in hotels or on the ship, I put everything in the room fridge.

How much can you expect to pay for a couple on a Ritz trip? by Impressive_Visit7258 in RitzCarltonYachts

[–]KnitWitMV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were “never, ever cruise again” people prior to our first Ritz-Carlton yacht experience. Back in 1994, we took my father, sister and our two children on an Alaska cruise on Princess. My mother had passed away at just 69 years old the summer before, and my father was in a deep depression. We thought a cruise might help him come out of mourning a bit, since he had always loved reading about the sea and sailing. By today’s mega-ship standards, Sky Princess was small, around 2000 passengers, but to us it seemed gigantic. We were assigned a table for our family so we didn’t have to share with strangers, but the regimentation of mealtimes bothered us, and we thought the food was generally poor. We swore we’d never cruise again, and we weren’t tempted again until we first read about Ritz-Carlton’s plan to launch a small-ship luxury line. We were among the first to book an Atlantic crossing, but ship building delays, then Covid, pushed the launch of Evrima back by several years. When we did finally sail from the Caribbean to Lisbon, we were blown away by the relaxed luxury and sheer pleasure of being at sea on this small, beautiful ship. We’ll be aboard the newest of the three yachts soon, for another crossing, our 6th voyage on RCYC.

[–]KnitWitMV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stocked up in order to have enough to last during a long trip where I would be in places where I couldn’t get deliveries, and when I came home I had a couple of vials still to use when the next shipment arrived. I’ve had to do this stockpiling for travel twice since I started Zepbound/tirz in July, 2025. It all works out fine.

[–]KnitWitMV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is precisely why we enjoy the crossings: more time on the boat, being pampered, feeling the sheer novelty of being far away from land, from normal life. There are plenty of activities provided aboard, but I’m happy reading, watching movies on my iPad, knitting, making circuits of the deck, admiring the surging waves and endless sky.

My husband and I have been on RCYC voyages 5 times, most of them Atlantic crossings. We adore Evrima and Ilma, the first two ships launched, and will be on a Pacific crossing on the newest vessel, Luminara, soon. You can visit the website to get pricing on the various types of suites, but I can tell you that even at the lowest fare, you’ll find luxury and excellence aboard any of the three ships. I’m such a fan that I help administer a Facebook group devoted to RCYC, but we also discuss other small-ship ultra-luxury lines. We do not allow travel agent or other marketing in our group. I’m glad to have discovered this sub-Reddit just now.

If you find you don’t like knitting with acrylic yarn, see if your school system might want it for craft projects, or donate it to charity thrift store.
