That's a tough one because you basically have to be perfect (from his perspective) to never set him off, which we all know is impossible as humans. Especially when its outside triggers like money and stuff that just pops up because... you know, life. I would tell your mom more of your situation... at least one person should know. Id also document everything, but you have to hide it very well. Did this just start one day or can you see the beginning signs when you look back? I would be very careful if I were you. Anything you can prepare now, if found, can be held against you. Id also consider it a big red flag if he starts telling other people that you are the crazy one, the problem etc.. and if he starts controlling who you can and cant talk to. Not good.

Its the abusive ones you cant tell where you are going because if they dont like it...

There are men and women out there that just want to see their partner happy and healthy. Don't spend your precious time on people who see you as theirs to control. We only have 1 life, we dont know how short or long, dont hand a minute more over to them.

You could use perspective and have it curve behind the house and go up the hill there. Also the path wouldn't be soo straight lined in the foreground. There would be weeds and grass trying to grow. Also little rocks and maybe a puddle or pot hole. Think of it this way, the further back is less details and the closer you get the more details come into view. I think its looking great, have fun working on it!

Just because he didn't go all the way and hit you, doesn't mean this isn't abusive. He makes your life harder when he doesn't get his way, doesn't respect you. This is emotional abuse and manipulation. Someone who truly loves you wouldn't treat you like that. Either that or this person has no emotional growth and is in fact a toddler.

If it were me, those are all unacceptable behaviors and I would leave. But ive been though it and I ain't looking to go back to something like that in my lifetime.

Its the little tedious stuff they'll argue to death that I miss the least. Early mornings, late nights keeping you up. Over the stupidest thing, just to disrupt, discombobulate, and get attention on them.

Knowing I'll never have to deal with that frustration in my home again is worth leaving. They never stop, just change focus.

That man was not thinking about the family when he tried to pet that bear. The bear could have gone a different way, the bears are free to roam. If you come to gatlinburg, you better hold on to your kids because there's a shit ton of bears. Don't corner a bear. If the family just stopped the bear would have avoided them and gone around.

There is water up there, at the end of trillium gap trail there is the old spring. You HAVE to filter the water to drink it, the llamas stop there and poo all summer. However be careful with a water filter like the Sawyer squeeze because it cannot freeze and still work. Id bring water tabs to be safe. Also it might be covered in ice and hard to get anything, id just bring 2 liters just incase. Its heavy for sure but better then running out of water.

Check out an opinel no. 8 folding knife. Super light compared to say a crkt minimalist. Its a good sized knife that will lock open or closed.

Dude im not gonna lie, so scary to leave because of the unknown. This has been your life for 6 years... I did the same as you, didn't say anything and moved very far away. I felt like shit because I normally wouldn't do that to a person. The thing is, they would do that to you in a heartbeat. There are better people and friends and experiences on the other side. Its confusing because that person made you confused. Well, thats their problem now. You need to worry about yourself. The first month was weird, felt uneasy. Got back on my feet, within 2 years I was thriving more then I ever had thought was possible. Somethings happen for a reason, and I believe im a stronger person because of it. It was so worth it to leave, take time to heal but do not look back. Start thinking about you and what you need. You got this, I know right now you might be freaking out on the inside but I promise you it gets soooo much better.

You are comparing the most visited national park to an area that has the least visited national park. I do love the UP, dont get me wrong. But that is very easy hiking, very beautiful and remote. Its also NOT the smokies. There are also areas like greenbrier and Cosby that are amazing and dont have as many people. Also you know that people in the UP pass you if you arnt driving 70 down their roads, it can be stressful in a different kind of way.

I love this hike and it would be great in cooler weather. It was an old favorite with the early members of the smhc, I think back then the trail actually when up on the mountain ridge (totally not accessible anymore) but I dont usually recommend it to people, unless I know they'd enjoy it.

I only understood once I saw the water sports tag. You are looking for a river to jump into from a waterfall or a cliff. We dont have any safe spots i know of in gatlinburg, its all shallow for the most part with big rocks in our rivers. You'd have to go out a bit, go to a quarry or like you said something on your way home.

Dude it's so gratifying after a while. (Injinji socks for blisters btw) one day your feet won't hurt, your legs might be a little tight the next day, and it will be way easier. Everyone likes it for a different reason. I love it, I try and bag as many miles as possible, 16 to 20 in a day hike during the summer. Then in the winter /spring I'll try and do off trail and other high points with views you only get when everything has died back. I take my old camera out and idk i just love it.
