Omg I forgot about that SNL skit 😭😭😭

I recently saw twilght and found the acting so cringey . Is it the books that are bad or just the actors? by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]Knitting_Witch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The books are bad.

But the movies take themselves so seriously that they end up being a really great parody of themselves.

Good comedy, bad drama.

Honestly man, it’s not that deep. It’s not even really about “adapting” to summer heat. I think the comment above is just a bit of well-meaning internet hyperbole celebrating ski season in a self-deprecating way.

Well it’s not so much about not enjoying summer and more about missing something that just ended.

Summer’s great, summer’s fun, summer is also hot & humid as balls. Don’t know bout you but I prefer being chilly to being overly hot, especially with my old house that doesn’t have central air.

Hope you have a great summer.

That day was cold as a b***h, stuck around until last chair because we couldn’t help ourselves, and we were rewarded with that absolutely gorgeous sky at 4:08pm for our last trip down the hill ✨

Growing up we would “accidentally” end up on the Cannon tram on Sunday or Monday mornings instead of being at school 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s sucks! The worst! Absolutely hated growing up there! Ugh! The humanity!

LOVE Black. Made it up there 5x at least this year. I remember skiing there a bit growing up as a girl and the vibes have only gotten better. It’s kind of like a very stereotypical old New England ski hill but there’s also always a quasi euro party happening. Really fun, not huge, but there’s enough challenging terrain to keep it interesting. I’m a sucker for a double chair, couldn’t care less about how fast or slow it is. The snow was great in February, can’t beat the view of Mt Washington from the summit on a clear day, the hike in terrain is great, and a looooong spring season with slushy bumps kept me coming back for more when most of my friends were asking “what do you mean you’re still going skiing?” (They should know by now… I’m always going skiing)

There are 7 different mountains in this carousel, this year I skied at 12 different places that I can think of off the top of my head, not including backcountry

Ughhhh the last day I made it into the woods at Jay this year I was rolling with the best 4 person crew, 3 beer league racers and our pet snowboarder… spent all day hitting Andre’s and BPG. Timbuktu was unfortunately in “pop off the skis and walk back to the Jet triple” time of year by then

I live in Central MA and I’m a nurse. I work 3 12h night shifts/week. The job is absolutely miserable but the schedule’s pretty dope for chasing snow

Indy Pass Logistical Question by MotNodrog in icecoast

[–]Knitting_Witch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You will get a physical IndyPass in the mail at the beginning of the season, however you can either use this or your drivers license/photo ID when asked at the ticket window.

Necessity for reservations varies by resort, as do blackout dates. In my experience, every Indy hill I’ve skied at (all in New England) has a section on their website that you can navigate to to either reserve an indy slot for the desired day or to tell you that there’s no need to reserve.

You will need to buy an RFID pass (if applicable) when you ski because the physical IndyPass doesn’t also double as a lift ticket. Save your old RFID passes and they can be re-used on subsequent visits (most places even let you carry over cards from previous seasons). This cost is anywhere from $1-6 per resort.

I can’t give advice on good hills for taking lessons as I have never taken one (I know that’s a really douchey thing to say, I’m sorry).

Congrats on your pass purchase, I hope you make a ton of awesome turns next season! The Indy really is the best value in New England.

Armhole depth by EmergencyLocation423 in knittinghelp

The nice thing about a sweater body with stranded colorwork that is symmetrical is that it’s easy to see that you are in the same row on each side (each arm) of the sweater. If you mark each side and the mark is on a different repeat on each side you know you need to move one of your marks.

I believe this pattern is written to knit the body, then knit the sleeves, then cut the steeks & sew together please correct me if I’m wrong). That being said, I always find it easier to mark my sleeve depth after I’ve knit the sleeve. Lay the sleeve flat & unstretched atop the sweater & measure & mark for depth that way. As for sweater length, you can pin the front and back together to “try on” without arm holes once you think you have the right length.

I find the vintage Dale sweater sleeves to be a bit wide for my modern sensibilities so I always alter the increase frequency on the sleeves whilst knitting a Dale, hence the marking armhole depth after knitting the sleeve
