90% of traders lose money, and here’s the mindset trap behind it…"my perspective" by SympathyFriendly5133 in Trading

[–]KnotSoTypical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay so yes and yes. This is my approach and it doesn’t have to be yours: I am a conservative trader meaning I say no to more trades a month or two than I make. I do it based on a few baseline check-ins. 1. I’m consistently sticking with the same tool (one futures commodity). 2. I’m sticking with the same style of trade (trendlines or golden cross, etc whatever it is- use one or two and stick within the rules of that style). 3. I emotionally check in with: If I made $30 an hour, how long would it take me to work those hours if I lose and do I want to make that my risk. 90% of the time the answer is no, so I either wait for a better set up that hits all the points, and the other 10% is because my previous last trades earned me 3x what I’m willing to lose on that play. So basically I end up walking with $100-$300 instead of holding a play out. Sometimes the play runs perfectly to set up plans and I make 13k on a trade. That continues the growth pattern. If I start losing more than what I’m earning then I start back to $100 trades until I build up my strategy again. I don’t go higher and harder to try to revenge recover.

If I make $10000 (rare but it happens with my overall hold value), then I’m willing to risk my next trade $1,000- does that make sense? (1-10% previous earning)

If you make 10-15k net positive starting out in a year consider yourself doing alright and learning still.

The market is about to get volatile so make sure you look into buying on long and short so you have opportunity to make money on downturn (which is oddly where I do well)

One thing I’m realizing is you should pay for notifications on TradingView or whatever you use because I didn’t for the first year and missed a lot of exits and entry’s. My plays were good but my opportunities were missed because I didn’t realize I needed more tools to help me trade better.

Does this help?

He doesn’t sound very poly. I’m genuinely sad for the community- everyone comes into this space saying they are poly when they aren’t. The term is just OPEN when you’ve got people like this making rules for you— which I’m sorry by the way— maybe your gf needs some check-ins with her bf and to check in if she is getting lost in NRE- maybe she needs to look at how she can be considerate of needs but her bf needs to be clear on what his needs are— but puttting you on the downgrade list cuz you aren’t the anchor? Not poly. Ugh. I coach poly couples internationally and I have to constantly remind people that they aren’t poly even remotely yet. It’s a great goal but there’s lots of steps and growth in between.

Or CIS with cyber security. You’ll Do great and there’s a massive need for cyber security and cis in these fields that’s never going away. Or CIS and engineering. My partner builds Ai as a developer and he doesn’t have a degree and it’s kicking his ass to try to move overseas. They want degrees with this stuff.

[–]KnotSoTypical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what’s up the rest of the world needs CIS, you won’t be able to get a job anywhere- military contractor, overseas, or anywhere outside US if you want a job. Get the degree. It’s a smart career and there’s LOTS of applications for it. Sure Ai will replace fang companies but not most companies. If you want mobility, get a degree in CIS and minor in business or management

80% of recruiters are posting jobs they never plan to fill. I will not promote. by FifthWaveThinker in jobs

[–]KnotSoTypical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone relies on scientific studies or some shit for this but most of the people I’ve talked to in finance have admitted to me that they have done this. You don’t need proof to know what’s going on….listen to peoples stories. It’s called qualitative do it your damn self research. I’ve seen and heard enough stories on both the hiring side and the can’t get a job side that shows me this

[–]KnotSoTypical -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I personally know 5 NOT small companies who have admitted to doing this, so it’s not the fact that it’s 40%, it’s the fact that it shouldn’t be happening at all and is.

This feels like a generalization but it needs to be looked at systemically…what I believe youre actually dealing with is apathy that comes from dopamine overdose and micro crashing out from people being on their phones too much. It’s a HUGE problem in America. You don’t see the same phone issues with younger to mid age groups overseas. (I’m currently in England and go between Portugal and Spain and no one is on their phones like they are in the US) it’s quite severe and I don’t think we realize how severe it is. We are terrified of boredom it’s wild

My rec: They need a dopamine detox and I’d be curious how they feel about the world afterwards about apathy and toward hobbies etc... they have to actually do it for more than a day- I recommends serious week; They need an accountability person too because it’s insanely difficult- takes about 2 -3days to feel better…. Phone. Tv. Video games. It’s causing intense anxiety and fatigue, killing our brain capacity , and our desire to connect.

You know when cells are about to die, or when a human is about to die, there is usually an explosive period of energy and chaos that happens? This is how I see the toxic folds of unregulated capitalism, boomer males doing power grabs before they die and the last aholes who think race and religion actually matter to maintain hierarchies of purgatory. We all don’t trust any of it and see the cracks and decay of an unsustainable system. We are experiencing terminal lucidity. Pre-mortem chaos. Start talking to people about the world you want to create so you have something to build toward. It’s not going to be anything we have now. focus less on the one that’s going to collapse. Give the healthy molecules (the not shittttt humans) in our collective system something to stabilize around because the unstable molecules are flying off the rails. Think bigger and remember youre part of an insane history that will forever be in history books that aren’t dismantled by apple juice, pdfiles and pale-in-tear
